    I would ask the guy you are getting it off to take some pics of the engine then series 1 club or here someone will be able to tell you whether 1600 or 2litre.

    The ends of the hoses on the fuel filter look a little suspect but not leaking. Usually the ignition coil would be fitted with HT coming off the base ie vertically with connections on base , originals where oil filled with transformer type oil....

    One more ? where is the fuel hose to carb routed ie does it go above anything that heats up? You can get vapour lock in the fuel hose if it gets too hot. Post some pics of your engine bay may give us some clues.

    Wheel spacers have a reputation of stressing bearings better option is wheels with different off set 8 spoke or wolf seem to be the best.
