With the tool in place and the crank on the dot it all fell into place without a fight. Plastic tube in the crank end to hold the belt and fit the tensioner. Maybe I was lucky!!

For the rumbling check the play in wheel bearing first as it is easy to do.

Welcome to FL 1 ownership! They are fab and very underrated. The front noise is most likely CV joint as you say. Change whole driveshaft with OEM type as cheap ones last no time. Wrt your tyres, all same tread pattern is best but mot importantly...

An easy check is the high pressure fuel rail sensor. It suffers from corrosion on the plug contacts. Located end of fuel rail on battery side. Release and remove plug, spray contacts and socket with contact cleaner, plug back in. Have you had...

Anyone worked out a way of draining all the auto fluid from the torque convertor whilst gearbox is still in place??

All done. Starts and no oil leaks!! Here's to another 80k. Not a difficult job to change the belt on a 1.8k. It was all the other stuff that I found. I bought a £5 tool to save the valve springs from fighting me as I fitted the new belt....

Agreed, what I was checking was whether there was a way to replace all fluid and try the old TC out on all new fluid before changing it? Could I dis the cooler pipe and empty via that?

Thanks, thought as much. Is there a way to get all the fluid out of the TC while changing it? e.g. engine running when draining?? Would like to give it a fresh start and see how it goes.

So, once it has started to vibrate which appears to be when the TC locks, it will carry on badly vibrating until: I boot it to change down. The hill ends. I ease off and reduce the work being done by the engine. Maybe a fluid change will do...

It when the TC is locked and acceleration is applied but not enough to change down. Worse on inclines. Applying boot and change down solves the vibration. Looking out for a low mileage TC but may change fluid first. Just wondered if anyone else...

All double cleaned and new cam rear cover arrived. Fitted up and another surprise! When I removed the 2 RH engine mount bolts they both came out with a lovely slither of aluminium in the threads leaving the threaded holes as smooth as a...

After using with the oil additive in things have not really improved. Just been Devon to Kent and back. All fab at 60 plus but long inclines are painful due to vibration and needing to downshift. Could it be that the auto fluid needs changing?...
