It’s a good idea to turn the engine over by hand or on the starter with the fuel system disabled first, just to get some oil circulating before firing it up.

If it were me, I wouldn’t bother messing around with adapters — it’s just easier and more reliable to cut it off and wire in a standard ISO plug. Most modern head units use ISO anyway, and it’ll save you headaches down the line.
