Are these quite easy to replace

Hi all I've just bought a 2.5 tdi discovery 2 thats been sat in a mates yard for about a year. It needed a bit of looking at 1st job was changing the master and slave cylinder, fairly straightforward used the gunson eezibleed kit..however now it crunches into 2nd gear.. My mate said it was fine...
