    Freelander 1 Tailgate WindowI have

It reminds me of an instance years ago, at a motoring themed dinner. I was sitting with some newspaper correspondants, when one of the guests turned up late at our table. Sorry, he said, but my car lock was frozen -- You should have pi**ed on it,one of the guests said -- So speaks the motoring...

    Freelander 1 Tailgate WindowI have

Funny enough, I was thinking of just that. However the form and function of the tailgate does seem to frustrate many of the possibilities. It will give me something to mull over during the winter months ( I am a retired design engineer for Massey Ferguson ) It is always difficult to correct...

    Freelander 1 Tailgate WindowI have

After Christmas (expense ) I am going to get a new regulator with motor. I have replaced the complete regulator a few years ago. Yes it is a bit of a pain adjusting, but thats what I have been doing now anyway. At the moment my routine is - turn ignition on - drop window a bit with switch -...

    Freelander 1 Tailgate WindowI have

Thanks for the detailed answer. The bit that I did not know and never seen in the forum, is that the CCU activates the motor to lower the window. I was thinking that maybe there was a physical reaction to the door latch opening utilizing the tensioner springs on the cable. Looks like I need to...

    Freelander 1 Tailgate WindowI have

Thanks for all the replies. As I said previously, I have done all the checks suggested and all is OK. I need to understand what components physically actuate the window drop when opening the door. I know the microswitch is OK and it powers the solenoid OK to release the door catch, but what...

    Freelander 1 Tailgate WindowI have

I have seen lots of discussions regarding tailgate window problems, but dont seem to see the problem I have. My window seems to have a mind of its own - most of the time it only comes down about 1/4 inch which is just enough to clear the top recess and then I have to press on the glass when...

Been there, done that - now full circle. You pays your money and takes your chances.

    Oil Filter O Rings

Just purchased a GENUINE LR Oil Filter kit - It cost £17.60 plus postage --- and guess what - it only included the top ring and the bottom ring, and a filter made in Poland, which looks poorer quality than the ones in even the Britpart kit. What am I getting for my money ! Wont do that again.

    Oil Filter O Rings

Must admit that from where ever I buy them, most are Britparts, but I have had Bosch and Mahle.

    Oil Filter O Rings

I have noticed that when buying a replacement oil filter for my Freelander TD4 Auto, in the o ring kit supplied, the small ring for the base of the filter cap seems to be too large a diameter for the groove. It does fit on but very loosely, so much so that I put the old one back on incase it got...

05 TD4 Lumpy Running at 30mph in Third Gear.

Just to humour me - try raising the revs in neutral to around 1500 rpm. If it misfires then, I think you have the same problem I had. I also had no faults showing on the diagnostics.

05 TD4 Lumpy Running at 30mph in Third Gear.

I had a very similar problem with my Freelander TD4 2006. I related it to a misfire at around 1500 rpm which I would guess would equate to yours. Unfortunately I had to have an injector replaced, My garage had a bit of a problem spotting it as a leak down test was inconclusive, it only showed up...

    Thermostat Freelander 1 TD4 Automatic

Thanks for the offer MBROKOF , but I have now fitted the "fix". Just as a heads up - Its best to take the inlet manifold off - quite an easy job and it makes access very easy on the auto. After carefully dremmeling the clip off and removing the hose from the block, I disconnected the other end...

    Thermostat Freelander 1 TD4 Automatic

Hi All. I have been reading previous posts regarding the fix for putting a remote thermostat in the Radiator Hose. There seems to be some uncertainty regarding this for an automatic. Has anyone done the fix for an automatic. I don,t want to strip it all down to find that it wont fit into the...

Freelander 1 TD4 2006 Noisy NEW remote Fuel Pump

Now got all the jobs done. Pierburg pump fitted. My garage said that he would not have believed it until he heard the difference. He had always got his Landy bits from the same supplier and up to then had had no problems. Fortunately he was able to return the Britpart pump and I was able to...

    My Freelander 1 TD4 2006

Is it just me - Since purchasing it 3 years ago I have replaced gearbox mounts, rear axle mounts, 2 cv joints, fuel tank cradle, VCU, prop shaft UJ, front coil spring. Now need new primary fuel pump, and turbo pipes. All this along with my over the top servicing regime .Engine and autobox are...

Freelander 1 TD4 2006 Noisy NEW remote Fuel Pump

Guess what !! Just turned out of my local garage and turbo hose split !! Cant believe it. I have to wait until Monday to get a new one ; meanwhile gaffa taped up plus cable ties.

Freelander 1 TD4 2006 Noisy NEW remote Fuel Pump

The more I think about this the more I get annoyed ! If it is true what you say about none Pierburg pumps, then why are they allowed to sell them. I have spent near £200 on noisy pumps which do the job, but are unacceptably loud, and I know I will have trouble getting any recompense. Do people...
