BTW, do you see any fuel around the filler? Some of the vehicles we have at work have a drain from around the filler area. When the AdBlue spills (its filler in under the same cover as the diesel), it drains out under the vehicle. Wondering if you have some kind of small blockage at the top...

From a safety and elf perspective, wear some cushioning protective layer on your forehead. Cos when the diesel drops down into your eyes, your head will flinch up and hit the underbody. Alternatively, wear eye protection as that will have the added benefit of protecting your eyesight. ;)

If your car is a manual, I'd say juddering when taking off is the clutch. My L Series has been doing it violently for a few years on and off (mainly on). I'm surprised my engine mounts haven't gone. Clutch still works, no slipping and will pull the old girl up hills no problem, but judders...

To find the reason for poor fuel economy, look at your gearstick. If it says something like PRND - this is a contributor. You need to find 1 that says 123456R. Mine says PRND and its currently hovering in the low 11's average. When its warmer, it hovers in the 10's. Our 4.5 ton vans at work...
