    Freelander 1 Fitting aftermarket stereo

Found out. Speaker's is dead. Tried moving it to the other side, same low sound. So now Iøm up for new speakers as well. Think I'm going to change all four, but keep the tweeters.

    Freelander 1 Fitting aftermarket stereo

So now it gets weird .. really really weird. I have bought all harnesses and hooked up the new head unit. SWC works, amplifier turns on, everything OK so far .. but as I didn't have the ISO -> RCA connector before today I connected the amplified head unit "ports" directly to the cars...

    Freelander 1 Fitting aftermarket stereo

Openfold, did you do anything special to make the steering wheel controls work? I've connected Key1, Key2 and ground between the new steering wheel control box and the head unit, but doesn't seem like the head unit reacts on any commands from the vol+/- or Next/previous buttons .. quite odd I...

    Freelander 1 Fitting aftermarket stereo

What's the reason for the original amp not working in this setup? I would think that the only difference is that I have to go with the RCA output on the headunit instead of the amplified outputs. Secondly finding the correct wire in the HU connector to turn on the amp when the Head unit is...

    Freelander 1 Fitting aftermarket stereo

I decided to take the chance and go with this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171375738346?_trksid=p2055359.m570.l4467&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI171375738346.N19.S2.M-2904.R2.TR2 So let's see if it will do the trick.

    Freelander 1 Fitting aftermarket stereo

It's with an "in-house" CD-changer in the head unit. Under the seat is the amp. Wan'g to have Bluetooth, Navigation and a decent screen for OBD-output :)

    Freelander 1 Fitting aftermarket stereo

Hi Sorry for asking as I know they are long threads about car stereo and changing to all kinds of non-standard stereos, but I have searched all over the Internet and the more I search the more confused I get. It's quite simple what I want to achieve; fitting an aftermarket stereo (Eonon G2110F)...

    Sunroof timing issue

Hi Andy I did follow the RAVE-procedures thoroughly, and the roof runs smoothly, but the minimum tilt function isn't there. I'll have to give it another go the upcoming weekend.

    Sunroof timing issue

Another Freelander repair weekend has passed. This one I focused on my faulty sunroof. I actually got it working again. I bought a repair kit on eBay which replaces most of the plastic parts in the opening mechanism + a new cogwheel for the motor. SUCESS it now works. Ok the glassmount was...

Humming from back when releasing throttle

Finally I got around to this task. I decided to start with something easy .. the VCU bearings. Apparently that was a very lucky shot. The sound disappeared and I am now a very happy Freelander owner. Now I just need to fix the sunroof, then everything works perfectly. By the way, after removing...

VIN rusted - what to do

Sorry .. I wasn't precise enough. It's the one on the top panel that has rusted. And I'm told that the other ones aren't good enough, as they can be changed .. or something. Just looked in the RAVE-manual for help and found that it's only the one under the hood that has been stamped into the...

VIN rusted - what to do

Hi Was at the bi-annual vehicle inspection. Flunked because of the VIN not being easy to read!!!!! Anybody got some bright ideas what to do? Is there a VIN somewhere else on the car that can be used as identification. The one in the window apparently isn't good enough, so I'm kinda in a...

Humming from back when releasing throttle

I'm gonna do the VCU test today. It will at least give me an indication of the condition. But when I change the diff the VCU will be changed as well. No need to take any chances..

Humming from back when releasing throttle

Think it was because of missing oil. Removed 550ml added 800 :s

Humming from back when releasing throttle

So .. Changed oil on finaldrive, IRD and manual gearbox. While IRD and gearbox oil was in perfect condition, the finaldrive oil looked like metallic paint :s, so seems like my VCU still works after 206K km, but the final drive is doomed...

I will check those too when I change oil a million places :)

Humming from back when releasing throttle

Then I could have more miles in mine :) How did you find out it was damaged without damaging IRD and final drive?
