Thank you Dopey and King. I now feel somewhat reassured that I'm not being hoodwinked by my insurance company. However, I did a Google search and found a site specifying a LR90 TD5 as Insurance Group 10 vs. my insurance company stating Group 12. BTW, Sureterm prides itself as a 4x4 specialist...

My 1986 year LR90 N/A is in Insurance Group 6. My 2002 year LR Defender 90 TD5 is in Insurance Group 12. I imagine that the improved engine performance of the TD5 would account for a higher Group rating but an increase from 6 to 12, for what is ostensibly the same vehicle, seems incredulous...
