Good? Bad? Take it off before MOT? Thoughts?

I've been quoted £270 for fuel tank replacement in my 90 from a specialised LR mechanic. Was planning on doing it myself but just don't have the time in the next few weeks and need it asap. Sound reasonable? South England prices

I know there's been a few previous threads on this. Advice on best route? Cut out and put in SW windows, or hunt for replacement SW side panels to swap out the hard top sheets? Any good sources for replacements if that's the best route?
