    Su carb heat shielding

Hello Has anyone on here made/purchased/fitted heat shields to their su carbs on a 3.5 v8? Looking at the possibility of doing this but can't find much to go on out there. Cheers Paul

    Series 3 Weird one

Just a quick thought. I while back I replaced the distributor cap on the (electronic ignition dizzy). I got it off a brand new spare electronic dizzy I had. I see that in suppliers such as paddock etc that they state orange coloured or black coloured. The dizzy cap I replaced was orange but the...

    Series 3 Weird one

Hello. Drove it out in light traffic for a bit. After 40 mins or so the judder from a stationary position started again and got progressively worse every time I pulled away. Then hissing air, backfiring eventually cutting out all together. So I let it all cool down again then limped it home...

    Series 3 Weird one

Hello all So it started with what can only be described as severe clutch judder when pulling away from a stand still. Park it up for a few hours or pver night and then it cures itself. Then half an hour of driving and it does it again. Juudders, shudders and shakes from the front. Feels like it...

    Got a V8 in my series 3

Had a few productive days. After the valley gasket replacement , the new rad is working fine with bluecol, thermo stat kicks in at about 75° no overheating problems. Set carbs up so no air leaks, ticks over lovely, no racing engine once warmed up and to my absolute surprise the float Chambers...

    SU Carb being naughty!

The screw top on the dash pot top wasn't even done up let alone any oil in it. I'm so embarrassed.

    SU Carb being naughty!

I think the Rover v8 engines were SU's.

    SU Carb being naughty!

Tha That is unbelievably helpful. They were ultrasonically cleaned. But I obviously have a lot more to think about here. Some bed time reading! Thank you very much for taking the time. P.

    SU Carb being naughty!

Any ideas wot this could be? SU carb starts racing high as engine gets warm. It's a Rover 3.5 V8 engine with twin SU's (only 1 carb is doing it). The tickover screw is just touching the end stop and starts off lovely at tick over. But once the engine gets warm it starts racing and makes the...

    Got a V8 in my series 3

I’m just going to use Bluecol and hope for the best. I was just going to drain the rad and fill it up with it. Do you think that will be ok?

    Got a V8 in my series 3

Yes this is all very helpful as it goes. Thank you very much. Its quite reassuring as I got a new standard series radiator and after a few teething problems I got it all working without it over heating. I've been working on the carbs and it's slowly going back together. Hopefully be taking it...

    Got a V8 in my series 3 Landy…..

Cheers for this. Yes I've fitted a new standard rad but still haven't managed to route the bottom hose properly. In the process of that at he mo. I'm hoping that the efficency of a new radiator, despite being too small for the job, might get me out of jail. The old one was knackered. Plus I've...
