Do you actually know if the alternator is charging? So did it happen overnight or was the battery actually flat when you shut down the night before?

I have 200tdi now but previously a 2.5TD. Always took 1-2 mins glow plug heating to be interested in the morning and even after being left for a hour or so...it is just the way it is. I only had the prob you outline if you, like storm says, touch the throttle at all and then it just was not up...

Dont let your head rule your heart unless the bank manager is knocking on your door. If you go with the Disco and your heart is with the series, it will be short lived. Perhaps a half way house is a 90/defender...:confused:

Looks good to me including price. I always get suspicious when paintwork is too nice. I would get dirty underneath to re assure myself but if if you are too cynical you will never get a bargain so it might just be good. Warranty ?

I had similar prob recently - My issue was that pan hard rod had become separated from chassis due to some naughty off roading. May be worth just checking the status of yours

For me - I now pick them dependant on monthly content as 30% (ish) is the same in both mags. No pref, just based on whot u want to read that month. Never hear of griffdowg's overland monthly so might search that one down as never seen it.
