Those look even to me. You can use a coin for example to measure the tread depth. If there are better ones, those go to the back.

Changed the diesel pump and filter. Just to know when they are changed last time. Straightforward job. Someone before my ownership had already snapped both bolts holding the cradle and made new ones. So I didn't have to snap them.. The surface rust in fenders is something that I will take care...

How is your gear oil?

I don't see the point to not put them back. They are there for a reason and relatively easy to take off if needed.

Washed the car and changed engine oil & filter. Mobil Super 3000 5w-40 fully syntethic for these old & high mileage engines.

That's what I tried of course, but it doesn't do anything. Pushing, turning...nothing. Tried searching the manual but not a word about dim function. Mine is 2004 TD4 Sport, European model, lhd.

I'd love to be able to dim the instrument lightning when driving in dark. It's very bright actually.

The first deer hunting trip for this season. Freelander drives very nice. Coming back home in dark and found the osram nightbreakers quite good in high beams.

Sounds unbelievable that you can by FL1's under 1000£ there. In Finland (yearly inspection done, like mot) prefacelifts are typically around 2000EUR and facelifts 3000-4000EUR. And these have 200k km's, even 400k km's in odometer. 3 doors are really rare here. Actually found 1 right now on sale.

It's about 282 000 km's now and this is not my daily driver, so I don't care if it spends more time in my garage than on the road. Been really enjoyable times to work with it. My first LR ever and super happy with it. Don't know is there any point to change the serpentine belt in TD4? Don't...

Nothing, absolutely nothing. I am actually a bit worried now, because I have fixed all the known issues in my FL1 that I bought last December (drum brakes, wishbones, tie rod ends, clutch, VCU & bearings, diff mount, fuel tank cradle). It has no issues. Maybe I just drive it? ;)

Got it tracked today and it drives straight and nice again. Important thing to get done if suspension related parts are loosened and/or replaced.

I bought my 2004 FL Sport TD4 in the end of last year and read here about the VCU first time after the purchase. In other 4wd systems there are also weak points that can brake if oil changes are neglected. But stiff VCU taking IRD and Diff with it is of course thing that is not that common and...

New fuel tank cradle in. Wasn't the most pleasant job have to say...Subframe has to come down to get old cradle out and new in. And lot's of rust and dirt in my mouth and ears.
