At 3/4 of nominal max. power output without rev limiter or at the rev limiter, if I understood well. Not sure, it's a science to properly apply those testing procedures. Anyways, off to Scotland we go now!

Nice! Bikes are allowed higher limits here as well, some as high as 105 or so. Old enough, and there are no limits at all. Germany authorities turned nuts regarding exhaust noise, some people are just crazy. Emptying exhaust dampeners, installing straight pipes, using dedicated racing exhausts...

    Classic Bumper endcap

If it helps, I have those. And the rear ones require some brackets on the outer wings. The front ones, well, those required some creative drilling. In the end I drilled a hole through the bumper and used bolts to attach them. Not really happy about that, next time loose one I'll just weld the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Well, super car noise limits in Germany are 75 dB(A), so 79 is roughly 30% higher than that. Normal road cars are capped at 73, if I remember correctly, I am allowed to be at least 60% in perceived noise over that. dB(A) is on a logarithmic scale, not linear, so around + 6 to 10 dB(A) are...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yesterday I could sleep, so I did what every sane person would do, I dug deep into this whole exhaust without certificate, noise and registration thing. And honestly, despite this bring noz really cheap, appr. 700 bucks for the noise testing and registration, I should be fine. It turns out that...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Ah, those damn "tuning" clowns ruining their cars to make more noise really drive me crazy. Not for any noise reason, that is those idiots problem, but because their butchering of exhausts, violating emission and noise regulations, has everyone over here on edge regarding exhausts. From cops to...

Same over here, with old cars you NEED, I cannot emphasize that enough, a testing station that is used to old and classic cars. And that testing needs to be pragmatic about things, there some specialzed of sorts in classics that could as well serve as concours judges. Mine is very decent...

Got message from my mechanic, the rebuild carbs arrived today at said Land Rover specialist garage. Bunch of problems solved, it seems! No idea regarding the price of this adventure so!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just had a call with my TÜV engineer, and he had good news! The tubular exhaust will simply be declared as a replacement part, no further inspection or so needed. 🤩 If I really get the Weber four barrel carb, he would need a dyno run to change the registered power rating. As luck would have...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Well, there are maybe more issues with all of that. Hell, not that I was into perfomance tuning to begin with, even the exhaust is so far standard, just in stainless steel. Anyways, since the exhaust manifolds are shot, well, the right one is, I need replacements anyway. Thing is, the original...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Man, am I happy mine has none of those pesky electronics! 😉 Anyway, just bolted down the upper dash and instrument carrier before rain drove me in. The connector for the instruments is actually poka-yoke, fool proof, as in it can only be plugged in one way. Smart folks those RRC engineers. I...

    Classic Questions regarding the future

Solved a mistery, the rev counter. The red wire is 12 V plus, the grey-red one is lighting the green one goes to the coil plus and the brown one is the negative. All I had to do was to remove it from its housing... So rev green goes to the coil plus directly, rev red goes to maim harness white...

    Classic Questions regarding the future

Tackled the dashboard today. It is in, but not yet bolted down. Instrument carrier is in, but not fully connected, I need to figure out which way the big connector goes in, easy, all I have to do is match wire colors to indicators, e.g. indicator lights are up. Figured out how to connect the...

Truetrac in the back, no limited slip ones for 10 spline front axles, unfortunately. According to Ashcroft, pegging also helps to mitigate shock loads. And those pegged diff housing from Ashcroft are new ones. Maybe I get myself a ARB locker for front axle, propably not but you never know!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

There is already more hole than wallet! 10 spline is ok, a front locker is not realy necessary anyway. And for once, I agree with that sentiment! 😉

What did you do with your Range Rover today

My bad... Same problem so, not for 10 spline... Quite limited choice for 10 spline axles.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

4 pin only goes with 23 spline axles, I still have 10 spline ones. Switching over is not cheap. I did think about getting an ARB locker for the front diff, so far that is out of the budget. Plus, those need a compressor. A pitty the front true trac isn't available for 10 spline axles. The front...
