That's how I tested my sensors when I was having issues, I found a very brittle wire that had broken inside the insulation sleeve, twas a little bugger to find let me tell you! :)

Is the cruise control circuit in the rh connectors? I haven't soldered that one yet, I am going to be doing it in the near future in the hopes that it solves an issue I have had for years with the eas inhibit not working with the doors open but does work with the brake pedal depressed. I have...

You getting the hot weather shown on the news over here Keith? It looks rather toasty ;)

That open pipe is the diaphragm vent, you may have a damaged diaphragm or it hasn't been installed correctly

Totally agree, however I hunted for ages thinking my sensors wiring was at fault but all went away after the soldering bit. I think the bad connections were giving erroneous signals and therefore cocking up the zen of my EAS ;)

I am assuming you have made sure the connector is clean, even if it looks good it can still be the main issue with many a fault. The best thing is to cut and solder/heat shrink each wire, this will ensure there is no connection issue. I had all kinds of issues years back until I did mine, at the...

    P38A Steering squeal

Just an update, after doing all sorts I have now tried the Lucas power steering leak/squeal stop additive. I took all of the regular fluid out and poured the bottle of additive (well, pour is a bad description, the stuff is like molasses in a snowstorm) The noise has diminished considerably, the...

    P38A Steering squeal

I'm the one groaning at roundabouts usually, it always seems to be at slow speeds,(car parks, left turns etc) having said that, I guess I wouldn't be turning the wheel so far at 60mph :)

    P38A Steering squeal

The steering box seems ok when turning the wheel, the sound is actually more like a groaning noise, sometimes very pronounced and sometimes very quiet. Yesterday when I took it out it was dead quiet until I got back home, seems to be one of those things! I have googled it and it appears that...

    That is true

    P38A Steering squeal

I guess it must be the pump, the belts and pulleys/bearings are all in good shape. I am going to give it another flush out and put in some of the Lucas additive and see if that does anything. Probably will end up living with it I guess

Just tried that, no noises when not running, I was hoping that I might actually find the issue!

All centred nicely, recently had the tracking done after fitting new track rods, drag link and steering damper. As mentioned this has been there for the past 10 years or more, never gets worse or any better come to that!!

    P38A Steering squeal

I will try that next. TBH I only usually have one side up at a time, I do have 2 stands though so I will give it a go. It isn't causing any steering issues as it is, it is just one of those annoying niggles and doesn't appear noticeable from the outside because no one ever seems to look

    P38A Steering squeal

Stops, only does it when turning, just like a dry bushing, however, that would mean it would do it both left and right

    P38A Steering squeal

All present and correct sir. The noise starts pretty much as soon as you start to turn the steering wheel to the left.

    P38A Steering squeal

Deffo not the belts as they are fairly new and very quiet. Fluid was changed in March and I had additive added. The noise seems to sound quite low down the column although it is one of those noises that is rather hard to track. Its odd that it only occurs on left turns and not on right. As...

    P38A Steering squeal

Hi Keith, it always sounds like the column, no squeal from the tires. It does it as soon as you start turning left, not so much driving but when negotiating a car park or parking etc. Also does it when stationary, as mentioned, it has been there for many years, as far as I can see/hear it is not...
