    I’m pretty sure the 3.0 diesel engine in the new defender is a different breed than the D4. Not heard of any cranks snapping in the defender, the majority of the issues in the ingenious engines were in the 2.0 litre that has been dropped by LR.

    Could the ecu not recognise the amount of boost if maybe a boost box had been fitted? I don’t know if one is fitted to the ops car but it was a popular mod on remapped td5.

    Agree with the above, other than the security updates LR send out which LR assist come to your house to do if you ask, no problems to report. Even the insurance has come down after a years ownership, £866 last year with Admiral £687 this year through Swinton with a winch fitted. All good.

    Td5 heads can crack between the water jacket and exhaust ports resulting in pressuring the cooling system.

    Have you undone the oil pipes under the turbo. There’s a there’s also pipe clamp on the block holding one of the turbo pipes

    Airflow going up and down is to be expected but when pushing on it should get up around 600. That’s why I thought values were low

    As you said it’s fine when warm, are you getting a reading from the coolant temp sensor, as it’s probably used in the fuelling strategy

    Velar DPF clean killed my car

    The reason I asked is a friend of mine had a similar warning on his vehicle, but after diagnostics it turned out to be the adblue sensor at fault. I’m wondering if the mechanic who came out to clean dpf actually did any diagnostics or went straight to pumping crap into the car.
