The classic wheels won't fit a P38. Classics use same bolt pattern as disco 1 and series/defender, while P38's are only compatable with disco td5.

Is it consistent 8mph out at all speeds, or is this at a particular speed? Was the jap spec wheel/tyre combo the same as UK, if the rolling radius was different it could be it's not calibrated for UK spec?

I found it was cheaper to great my local exhaust builder to bend up a piece of solid tube last time I needed a custom piece.

There's no hard and fast rule, it runs surprisingly often even if system fine, just topping up. Are you experiencing other symptoms.... slow to rise, dropping corners or ends overnight, pump running till it's so hot it cuts out, etc?
