EGR valve allows mixing of exhaust gases with intake air to alter emissions, could result in smoke but would probably be grey/blue. Faulty injector could either over/under fuel, both would most likely show some sign of rough running, most noticable at idle; whilst only overfueling would produce...

Just found another bumper mount wheel carrier, Tomken, from the states. Originally designed for jeeps but it says will fit any steel bumper at least 2"x4". Currently about $285 or £175, couldn't get a quote for delivery on website without placing an order. Looks like it should fit defender...

Had a further thought..... does this logic make sense to anyone else? G-box cooler is built into water rad, therefore it's reasonable to assume g-box runs significantly hotter than rad, otherwise there'd be no cooling effect. If already hot pressurised coolant water and even hotter g-box...

According to the write-ups on at least two of these, it's definately paint, not a wrap.

A bit of searching found several people knocking out matt black custom models. Harman have the Conquerer, Platinum do one, and there's another called the Revere. The one I saw looked even blacker than these two, very Distaster Area.

Was trundling through Arborfield, Berkshire on Friday and spotted a RR Sport heading the other way done out in matt/satin black with what looked like red pinstriping details. Now I'm not a huge Sport fan, but this did look very cool!

Haven't looked at circuit diagram for P38, but most cars use ballast resistors to give different blower motor speeds; if this is also true of P38 then the circuits will generate a certain amount of heat quite naturally, as although resistor is main choke point the whole circuit will effectively...

Update.... just dismantled old rad and no obvious sign of internal cooler element failure, although there are signs of slight twisting from doing-up/undoing the cooler hoses, which might mean there is a small leak there. The other interesting points are there was a hardened lump of some sort of...

OK so I've been here before, about 18 months ago, only last time it was as a result of a knackered water pump. It's a 1998 DT. This time it started as overheating on motorway on Saturday and I pinned it down to water loss from two pin hole leaks from the heater top hose. Patch job on hose...

Mine has the habit of throwing the odd EAS hissyfit for no apparent reason, the faults can vary, and the distance between faults can be 1000's of miles. The most common has been an air supply fault, which I traced to dodgy contacts on the pump/loom plug, and a good clean and tighten sorted that...

That's the one I was thinking of... I want something similar for my RR, but without having to change the rear bumper for the Kaymar one.

I'm off to Launceston on 24th and back again on 26th, if anyone has stuff to head that way. Boot will only be about 1/2 full, so whatever room is left is up for grabs. Items will need to be with me by 23rd for an early start next day for the downward trip, and by midday on 26th for return leg.

Can you switch the pump on via software? I had similar problems with mine on very isolated occassions and couldn't even get pump on with software. Eventually I found the contacts between the pump and loom were a bit dodgy, a good clean with a glassfibre contact pen, and ensuring the contacts...

Addendum: Note due to rad clogging issues it's unlikely anyone will advocate use of any sealing product as it will add to the potential problems.
