After fitting the Hifly Super2000's and getting the F1 through its WOF recheck, I took it for a blast last night after work out to Twilight Golf then home afterwards. 26km drive out on the open road and the car/tyres looked to be performing well.

What does diagnostics say? If there's some error codes, it'll most likely point you in the right direction.

Apart from the starter issue, that you look to have covered having proved the voltage in the wire can control a relay, you look to be down to 'regular' mechanical issues. Pretty good position to have got yourself into :cool:

Presumably you know the light doesn't come on because of the startup tests when all the lights are lit. Has someone butchered the LED to get it through a MOT? Will it fail a MOT if it does not illuminate on the self test? In doing that took out the oil LED, or butchered that to because it has...

After you have polished up the lenses, spray them with a UV protector or they'll cloud up again quickly. Either that or the car parts shops here sell snake oil.

I'm sure there are ICEs that make the Freelander feel slow. And there will be ICEs and EVs that make the Freelander seem fast.

IIRC there are 2 parts to immobilisation 1 is cranking the other is fuel injection. The car's immobiliser (or IIRC the CCU dependent of age) handshakes with the engine ECU and they determine if immobilisation should occur. The immobiliser controls cranking by giving an earth to the starter...

The heater control illumination is not just a case of replacing knobs I don't think. Hasn't been discussed for ages I don't think, but there are threads about it. I remember threads about it when I got the F1, but didn't fix it at the time. So start searching from about 2010 :rolleyes:

What ever you do - remove the inside cover on the door before closing it. If you manage to close it, but then can't open it again, you'll be cursing if you don't. I agree, you are almost certainly up for a new regulator (motor, wires and runners). Its a lot easier and more reliable fix than...
