On a scale of 1-10 how bad is this ?

I haven't done anything. All I know is engine revs up to 5,000RPM. Anyway, I got the car down to him earlier, and he told me what he thought when I met up with him later. In a nutshell - The oil pump in knackered. The pressure gets lower and lower as the engine revs, and goes really low...

    Little ****s!

Nobody so far as I know! There was somebody trying (and failing!) to get up a hill earlier today and I sped past at 40 in the V8 lookling really happy without helping, so maybe they took it as a personal insult ?

    Defeated by 2-3cm of snow

How embarrassing! My 200TDi Discovery loves snow! Honestly, she handles better on the white stuff than on the black tarmac! Probably due to the Michelin Off-Road tyres she has fitted!

    Little ****s!

I went out tonight to find my 1990 Land Rover Discovery 3.5 V8 with 4 flat tyres and a 4 feet pile of snow on the bonnet. Arseholes! No lasting damage done I don't think, but still!

On a scale of 1-10 how bad is this ?

My mate has a computer thing that plugs into the ECU that will give a digital read out of the oil pressure. So I'll take the Landy over to his tomorrow and get him so give me his opinion as he was a mechanic for over 20 years!

On a scale of 1-10 how bad is this ?

The governor for my 200TDi is 5,000RPM. I checked the oil level as soon as I got home. It is bang inbetween the Max and Min.

On a scale of 1-10 how bad is this ?

I've just came back from a drive and things are getting worse. I got onto a patch of road with no snow so I decided to give the Landy a good rev since she'd been crawling around at 1,500RPM all day in deep snow! And as soon as the rev counter needle passed the 4,500RPM mark the oil light...

On a scale of 1-10 how bad is this ?

As long as it isn't causing the engine any problems I'll just leave it. Though, the engine does seem to "click" and run rough until the light goes out.

On a scale of 1-10 how bad is this ?

OK I'm not 5! But usually the oil light goes out in a split second after starting in any temperature!

    Yep it was warmer.

On a scale of 1-10 how bad is this ?

A bit more detail on what damage it is doing (if any) and what is causing it please!?

On a scale of 1-10 how bad is this ?

I started the car up this morning (-3*C) and noticed the oil pressure light took 2-3 seconds to go out after the car started idling... The car has 10W40 oil in it that was changed less then 1,000 miles ago, and this has never happened before. I started the car up again a few times during...

New discovery driver - can someone talk me through the basics please?

They do have Cam Belts, not Chains or Gears. And I think they need changed every 100,000 miles, but could be wrong! My Discovery 200TDi has 113,412 miles on the clock and has the original belt, so it is due a change! But I don't have the time to change it right now, so I'll just pray the...

    disco steering play

I can turn my steering wheel about 2-3 inches from side to side while driving and the Landy 200TDi still cruises along in a dead ahead position! I guess there is a steering box issue because all the joints and bushes are fine. It doesn't really bother me, I just have to prepare myself when...

Anyone having to pre-heat their 300tdi *three* times each morning??

My 200TDi fired up with just one glow plug cycle!

    Miles per gallon

Well my stock '93 200 2.5TD Disco gets on average 27-31MPG. 27 when I drive like a bad outta hell (rev to redline before shifting up) and 31 when I drive like a granny (shifting at dead on 3,000RPM).

    Snow machine!!

Well, after sitting 2 weeks the fuel in the engine had all went back to the tank, so it took a bit of cranking to start her up, but she did eventually in a ploom of grey smoke! After warming the engine up for a few minutes I put it into R and backed up. The tyres hit the snow with a thud and I...

    Snow machine!!

The snow is up to 8" now where I live, so I decided to try my luck and see if the '93 Land Rover Discovery 2.5TD I4 could make it out... And it did! I even made it up a long steep hill without a single spin! I love my Landy! :) I haven't tried the ole '89 Discovery 3.5 V8 Automatic yet...

    Which oil!?

I've got The Guzzler (1990/1991 Land Rover Discovery 3.5 V8 EFi) booked in for its MOT later today, so before it goes in I want to change the oil. But I don't know what oil it takes!? I assume 10W40 ? It has over 100,000 miles (infact it has 267,000 miles!) so I will have to use regular oil...
