My '90 Disco 200TDi is giving me problem after problem! Now I have an oil leak! I went out to it earlier to find streaks of oil coming out from the Landy. So I gingerly jacked the car up (bearing in mind it was parked on sheet ice!) and went under, and saw there wasn't a washer on the sump...

I swapped the battery and alternator over this afternoon, fired the engine up and the voltage stayed at 11.9 Volts consistantly! Yay! :)

So I'll pop down to Partco and buy myself a battery then! More expense! Wait a second, what I'll do is I'll take the 5 month old battery from the other Disco!

I'm pretty sure that is the engine warning light.

Would do, but my camera is broken just now, what I'll do is compare both alternators tomorrow, and if they look the same, I'll fit it and see how it goes!

I was driving home earlier in the 1990 Disco 200TDi with my high beams on and listening to the radio, when all of a sudden the battery light comes on! And minutes later the car starts to jump and then the lights fade, along with the engine stalling and me ending up at the side of the road...

MOT'd! :) However the emissions test was a bit scary, as it was 1% away from failing the CO test! Oh well, who cares!

Nope, no rust! :) I'm just going to pick the tyres then I'll go to the garage!

Well, the 200 is in my garage :) I fired the motor up and with 87,000 miles on the clock she sounds great! Well, as great as a clattery diesel can! I changed the oil because the old stuff was a few years old and gloopy, so she now has fresh 10W40 Semi-Synthetic oil in the sump and runs much...

OK, I now know I need a diesel! I just went 3 miles down the road to borrow a trailer from my friend, and he lives in a small village that has no gritters going through it, and the V8 got stuck three times! I'm heading off now to go and collect the 200.

I've decided to wait until winter is over before I change the pump. In the meantime I'll just use the 3.5 V8! :)
