OK, so is it the sweat band? Huh, I've tried every sweat band under the sun, literally, and none of them work for more than 5 minutes. I wear bandanas, folded into a triangle, as they then absorb the sweat from the baldest part of my head, they last a while but I have to change them regularly...

Last and only time I had a leak from a sump, it was my D1 300tdi. the sump just went porous, I have to think the inside of it was going rusty. I cannot remember if I or the mech disposed of it, I got a mech to swop it out, guess it must have been.

You could also try weakening the mixture a tad. Did you pull the plugs after a decent hot run? I seem to remember before, you were happy with the colour of them. You could always do a compression test, if that cylinder is down on pressure then things need investigating unless you CBA and just...
