definitely sounds like a hose has gone there are no moving parts in the intercooler it is just like a radiator so check and then check again all the hoses especially the elbow one that's the one on the right the small one

put it into sports so you can use the gear stick then you can at least see what gear it is in where about are you I know of a garage that only repairs auto gearboxes and has done for the last 40 years

if you can when belting it with a hammer keep it on the floor as if you do it on the bench that will have a little play in it and you will not get the full force of the hammer blow

you can always tell when the alternator is going down at night have your engine running and then put everything on back/front window lights heated seats and then press your brake pedal if the ignition light glows a little then it is the alternator going
