not sure if anyones mentioned this but the srs light being on will be an mot fail next year. mine was on on my beemer before i chopped it in on my f.l as i had put an m3 steering wheel on and didnt have the tool to recode and switch the light off and the guy said there are new rules coming in...

    rumbling

cool. will give it a go and see if this cures it. im not taking it off road so dont really need the 4x4 and i think mines the really base model do i dont even have the hill decent switch so it should be just as happy in 2 wheel drive.

checking mileage when buying a landy

its a good way of checking the advisories as well. as i got the mot with mine but no advisory sheet and have just had a look and it looks like a bit of work to do before the next mot. i think they should print the advisories on the mot so you know what will need to be done in the near future.

    rumbling

hi all. posted earlier about rumbling coming from underneath my 1.8 w. reg f.l and was thinking that it might be the propshaft. has anyone noticed this on theirs and have they removed it to make it a 2 wheel drive and if so is there a guide on here on how to do it? i dont have axle stands but...

    headlights

ahh i understand. might just get a massive set of spots and wire as a seperate beam will just position them to shine down abit so as not to annoy oncoming traffic. only prob with that though is i had the same set up on my terrano and people saw the spots and even though they didnt dazzle they...

    Tailgate window fault

just tried that on my 3 door and it does go down when you keep your finger on the unlock button but doesnt seem to close when you hit the lock button. why let you open it then have to get in the car and put the key in the ignition to close it again. i suppose to allow you to put stuff in the...

    headlights

thanks a set of spots is next on my list. i have found a weird thing on my f.l though. if you hold the indicator stalk just before it clicks for the high beam you get both the high and low at the same time and a lot better view of the road which makes me think why they didnt make both to run...

my appologies if i sound like i dont have a sense of humour but have just sold my beemer and was on a bmw forum and as i didnt have the latest 30 to 50k model very little help was forthcoming. the question regarding urban cruising was meant as i have no intention of taking the freelander...

    Veggie oil

not sure if you have the same bmw diesel engine in your f.l as is fitted in the rover 75 but i made the mistake of putting bio in at the petrol station and it took out 2 injectors and cost me a fortune to get them replaced and the others cleaned. i only knew i had a prob as power went and shed...

Have noticed a grinding sound when going around corners and it feels a bit like the prop shaft. Is there a known fault with them? Feels like a wheel bearing going but I doubt that both sides would be going and I can feel it under the floor just to the right of the drivers seat. Have had a good...

Thanks for the advice. Although from a standing start I have to admit the pull is really good for a little 1800 but might go down the route of making it a 2 wheel drive as i dont really want it for off roading but might get the winter out of the way first. I wasnt even sure these were 4x4 but...

Hi all. Ive posted this in the newbie section but feel I might have more luck here. Ive just traded in my 1997 323 coupe bmw for a 2000 1.8 petrol F.L 3 door and was wondering if the brakes are usually this bad? I know their not gonna be up to the beemers standard as they are disc front and drum...
