Gasses used for MIG TIG etc are inert. Gas welding has it's uses but for body/chassis work the good old MIG takes some beating, less heat distortion, far less fire risk and in the long run a damn sight cheaper. :)

You'll need an assistant for this, open the bleed valve and get your assistant to press the clutch pedal and hold it down, close the nipple and release the pedal, repeat until fluid comes through, about half a dozen repeats should do it.

Why?? You'd be far better off with a mig. :)

I recently had a Renault Clio in with engine management light on and gone into limp home mode, the scan revealed just about every conceivable fault, I went with my gut instinct and fitted a new crank sensor, cleared the faults and everything is OK now. Just saying like. :D

No it wouldn't, sounds to me like you have an over fueling problem, a decent scan should highlight the fault.

Can you describe the knock or better still, record it.

Aye! that and possibly intercooler partially blocked or leaking.

It's a clutch problem not gearbox, have you got a full clutch pedal or does it go down some way before you get resistance? If you have a full pedal then I suspect the cover plate is letting go.
