P38 2.5 DSE Spares or Repairs [SOLD]

One of the new neighbours asked if there was a car-park behind my house and how to access it. Had to explain they were all mine.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

    Fixed that for you.

    P38 diesel turbo

I think I would be looking at map pipe or inlet gaskets next. Possibly the intercooler itself as RRDT suggested.

    P38 Window/Sunroof issues

That's the only way I know. Worn teeth on the mechanism might mess it up.

P38A What are the tallest tires you can put on a standard P38 16 inch rims ?

Strangely that doesn't do anything in practice. @300bhp/ton runs oversize tyres.

    P38 diesel turbo

Hose delaminating inside? Any black smoke? That heat shield under the intercooler inket all good?

    P38A Diff Oil - again

Or shear it off. Oh wait. That was gearbox, wasn't it?!

P38 2.5 DSE Spares or Repairs [SOLD]

Anyone owning a Land Rover is suspect. Owning two, particularly a non-runner pretty much seals it. Every extra Land Rover after that is just an indication of the level of insanity.

P38 2.5 low on power, can't reach max rpm

Possibly. Old lift pumps had a non-return valve built in. Later ones don't so I fitted one just after the fuel filter.

    fuel consumption p38 4.6

Yep. Now in my collection behind my house. Pulled it effortlessly. According to the Nanocom the coolant temperature varied between 85 and 91C unladen and pretty much solid at 90C fully laden no matter what the terrain or speed.

P38A Oil loss at the engine

Have to admit we put heritage 20/50 in that 4.0 litre we fixed and it ran really well on it.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Started the scrapper. Bit odd. Reconnected battery and everything worked again! Tried to start and everything went dark again. Tried a jump lead from battery negative to engine and even battery positive to starter positive but no change. Disconnected battery negative, waited 3 minutes and then...

P38A Oil loss at the engine

Doesn't matter if semi-synthetic or fully synthetic. Shell always used to have the best oils. Their additives seemed to be very good. Whether this is still the case I am unsure. Some people like @Henry_b recommend an oil high in ZDDP or something like that. Sounds plausible. I do oil changes...

Something like that. I found the smell lasted weeks.

P38 2.5 low on power, can't reach max rpm

There is a potentiometer in the pump top. I'm trying to remember what it looked like but I recall you can clean it. I think it might have some sort of ribbon cable that solders on one side in order to get it out and clean underneath it but I really wouldn't bother unless it is last resort. Blast...

P38 2.5 low on power, can't reach max rpm

I wouldn't touch that pump too much. Tap it to idle at 750 rpm and leave it. If there is no throttle response then someone may have had the top off and not engaged the pin into the collar.

P38 2.5 low on power, can't reach max rpm

You can unplug the lift sensor and it will run on default values using the crank sensor.

P38A Clean/disinfect ventilation incl. air conditioning system

Getting them out isn't an issue. Getting them to sit right when you put them back can be. Easy with the dash out but not always so easy to get them locked in place otherwise. I cannot remember what product I used off Amazon but you started the car with the recycle on max fan, pulled the cap and...
