I think I would be looking at map pipe or inlet gaskets next. Possibly the intercooler itself as RRDT suggested.

Possibly. Old lift pumps had a non-return valve built in. Later ones don't so I fitted one just after the fuel filter.

Yep. Now in my collection behind my house. Pulled it effortlessly. According to the Nanocom the coolant temperature varied between 85 and 91C unladen and pretty much solid at 90C fully laden no matter what the terrain or speed.

Have to admit we put heritage 20/50 in that 4.0 litre we fixed and it ran really well on it.

There is a potentiometer in the pump top. I'm trying to remember what it looked like but I recall you can clean it. I think it might have some sort of ribbon cable that solders on one side in order to get it out and clean underneath it but I really wouldn't bother unless it is last resort. Blast...

I wouldn't touch that pump too much. Tap it to idle at 750 rpm and leave it. If there is no throttle response then someone may have had the top off and not engaged the pin into the collar.

You can unplug the lift sensor and it will run on default values using the crank sensor.

Getting them out isn't an issue. Getting them to sit right when you put them back can be. Easy with the dash out but not always so easy to get them locked in place otherwise. I cannot remember what product I used off Amazon but you started the car with the recycle on max fan, pulled the cap and...
