With the updates to the 300 timing chest (moving the lip about etc) the belts last well enough for most that I'm not sure the gears are that desirable? This, coupled with, the lack of real damage when the belt goes (some pushrods and, if you're really unlucky, a rocket) it seems hard to justify...

as above, look at the pipes under the bonnet when it does it. see if any are collapsing, then work out why (if they are)

Some L reg 200s at the end of the cycle had disc brakes on the rear. Were the very first 300s only m reg, or were there any before August 1994? What about the r380? I'm guessing none of them were ever fitted to 200s, so would have been linked (in time) to the 300, right? My own factory 300...
