    Broken top rear shock mount

Went to change the shocks, springs and brake pads on the Disco today. Front went fine with new Terrafirma shocks and HD springs fitted, with Ferodo pads stuck in the calipers. Went to do the rear though and encountered 2 problems. 2 pretty big problems: The rear shock top mount bolt sheared...

    Engine block leaking coolant ???

It is indeed that one. I was hoping I would still be able to do it myself though even if it is a lengthy PITA job. Is it not possible to take out that one mount and the engine still be supported by the other mounts without the use of an engine crane, and help take the strain underneath with a...

    Engine block leaking coolant ???

That was you was it :o I knew someone had mentioned them to me before but I didn't know where they were. My worry is that I start to try get it out, get stuck with it, and end up with a MASSIVE bill to get it sorted by professionals.

    Engine block leaking coolant ???

I never knew about core plugs, but having now done a bit of reading up it definitely looks like your diagnosis is correct West Slope Rover. So does anyone have any advice for the removal and replacement of core plugs on a 3.9 V8 ?

    Engine block leaking coolant ???

Don't understand that as I can see them fine and it would appear 'West Slope Rover' can see them too.

    Engine block leaking coolant ???

I have been starting to look in to this leak I have noticed on the Disco 1 (it's the 3.9 V8). I had noticed a clear fluid leak on the floor when I have moved the car from where it is parked, either just after starting up or when returning home. I got the front of the car up on ramps this...

At least snow was useful for something - Coolant leak

Its strange. The other day when I started it up, and the snow had gone, it left a little patch of what seemed like dark oil rather than coolant...... At the weekend hopefully, if the weather holds off, then I am going to get the front jacked up before starting the engine from cold, put some...

At least snow was useful for something - Coolant leak

It's definitely not a gusher. More of a trickler :)

At least snow was useful for something - Coolant leak

But to do this West Slope Rover, I need to find and fix the leak first? Otherwise it will surely just be getting air back in again yes? The hardest thing with finding the leak will be that it only seemed to leak when it was first started from cold. After I took it for a little drive to the...

At least snow was useful for something - Coolant leak

Because the heater in the car doesn't seem to get hot at all, and someone on here suggested that it could perhaps be the thermostat stuck open, and seen as though a new one was only £10 or something I just thought I would replace it.

At least snow was useful for something - Coolant leak

Well the thermostat is on the list of jobs to do as I have a replacement for it with a new gasket, so I can deffo do that. Core plugs?

At least snow was useful for something - Coolant leak

Since getting my 3.9 V8 Disco 1 I had noticed there was a leak at the front somewhere. When I noticed it I put my finger in it and it wasn't oil, but I wasn't totally sure what it was. But then today after a week away I went to start the car up, let it run a couple of minutes to try start to...

3.9 V8 mod costs and difficulty

Got my new wheels and tyres today. Ended up with 16x8 black modular wheels with Insa Turbo Ranger 235/70/16 on. But after getting the car lifted up to do the wheel swap, it pointed out that the current shocks and springs are shot and the car is actually riding a couple of inches lower that it...

    My first time

Today has been my first time in the snow with my Disco 1 V8, in fact with any 4x4, and I was pretty impressed. Had brand new Insa Turbo Ranger tyres put on today and they have been great for traction. It still slides the front end if you turn it in quick, but putting the power down it's great.
