Don't belive in K&N's for older carb engines , strip the carb and rebuild with new jets ETC , probably cheaper and better for the engine .

Check plugs and leads , and get Head gasket checked out !

May sound daft , but , try your local Honda dealer , they were sold as Hondas in Japan , or at least by Honda dealers . I spent a few years importing them , so i reckon Honda is a good starting point , I bought a few Jap only spec parts from Honda dealers in the past .

was it smokey before the new chip ? Chipping any derv truck will make more smoke if it's chipped for power , more fuel more smoke , unless its evil bad leave alome or rechip to standard .Never sure about chipping , couple of hundred quid , who knows more than the man who spent millions...
