Seat back fixings (series 3 109)

Hi, would you happen to know where I might find details on that? Thanks

Seat back fixings (series 3 109)

I guess my next questions regarding the rail are: a) will it greatly simplify fitting of seatbelts in the front? And b) will it still work ok if there's no centre seat in the front?

    Series 3 What lies beneath?

Thanks everyone, I took the grinder to the bolts as suggested and it all went as described. I now have access to the bits below 👍

Aftermarket electric fuel pump? Any recommendations for a replacement?

If I take the end off while it is still attached to the tank without crimping the fuel line in, will fuel pish everywhere?

    Series 3 What lies beneath?

Thanks for the replies, some good knowledge here - I might push my luck for more :) If I can't get the screws/bolts out using, ahem, "conventional" methods, would you consider it a daft idea to grind the heads off to free up access and then secure them using new bolts? What's on the underside...

Aftermarket electric fuel pump? Any recommendations for a replacement?

I've just seen the BritPart equivalent, it looks the same but has this stamped on the box "MUST NOT BE MOUNTED HORIZONTAL. MUST BE MOUNTED MORE THAN 30DEG FROM HORIZONTAL". So that might be my problem? Although how it's coped up to now is anyone's guess (unless it was fitted and then not driven...

Aftermarket electric fuel pump? Any recommendations for a replacement?

Wouldn't the filter be better placed before the pump? It's a 2.6L straight six petrol

Aftermarket electric fuel pump? Any recommendations for a replacement?

Located what I think is this pump (or one very much like it) on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202771434372 I was starting to think that maybe the delivery pressure would be wrong and mess things up but I see that John Craddock sell them as replacement bits for the petrol 2.6 so I think maybe...

    Series 3 What lies beneath?

I do indeed, although it doesn't look like the original. Also, the original fuel pump has been usurped by a (barely functioning?) electric unit, see my other post here if you like: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/aftermarket-electric-fuel-pump-any-recommendations-for-a-replacement.386811/

Aftermarket electric fuel pump? Any recommendations for a replacement?

Hi again, am looking into a potential fuel delivery issue with a '74 109 and have come to the conclusion (I know, I'm so astute) that the original mechanical pump has been replaced by this wee electric jobby at some point. It makes noise but nothing much comes out, so I'm guessing it's kaput. I...

    Series 3 What lies beneath?

Hopefully an easy one for you LR gurus. Just taken on this 109 and am investigating potential fuel delivery issue. Following the fuel pipe to the tank brought me to these access plates in the floor. Previous owner seems to have thought it a good idea to paint them shut. Can anyone tell me what...

Seat back fixings (series 3 109)

Well, I've done what @tottot recommended and gone for wall plugs and glue, and it seems to have done the trick. So thanks! And thanks to @Turboman for the tip about the hand rail thing, definitely on my shopping list. Next job will be... hmmm, sooo many to choose from 😝

Seat back fixings (series 3 109)

Found a bar for sale in Brum, £175 ono Seems very steep for a bit of old bent metal, but then I guess you could describe the whole car as a collection of bits of old bent metal...

Seat back fixings (series 3 109)

Looks like I could do with something like this (picture found using Google search): The plan is to fit seat belts too so I may end up with some sort of rail anyway...

Seat back fixings (series 3 109)

Thanks, still have what's left of the original seats in the back of the car (you can see them in the photo). Good idea re the wall plugs and glue, I'll get on it 👍

Seat back fixings (series 3 109)

Hi, I've got an issue with the front seats in the 109 Safari, namely that they keep falling off. Has anyone come across such a daft design before and if so, what did you do to fix it? It looks like each seat back is head on by 4 short screws that attach to a couple of mouldy old strips of...

Series 3 window locking catch / latch stuck open

Thank you for the replies, the window guide had obviously been replaced at some point and was stopping the catch sliding up. Drilled out the rivets, took out the catch and window, went prehistoric on the guide with a drill to widen the hole for the catch pin, reassembled and hey-presto - another...

Series 3 window locking catch / latch stuck open

Sorry if already posted, had a search and couldn't see anything obvious. One of the sliding catches used to lock the sliding windows is stuck and I wondered how much of a job it was to fix/replace? It seems to be riveted onto a panel. Does anyone have any experience of replacing it? If so any...
