    The rebuild begins!

Well back off to work for 3 months on Tuesday so the last of the Land Rover work for a while. Today the front bumper, valence and grill came off. As in the photos above the front radiator support is majorly corroded along the bottom but this is not new news to me having looked at it in the past...

    The rebuild begins!

So not so much done yesterday. Rear tow bar removed along with its electirics which had been put in with splice connectors. There is a special place in hell for people that use those things. Also managed to get the last of the back seats out and remove the grab handles on the back of the...

    The rebuild begins!

Well more progress was made to day with the help of my dad today (he's the one in the photos). Roof side and door tops all came off pretty quickly with no need to resort to grinding or cutting the only caualties of the day were one sud of a rather rotten door...

    Series 3 Leagalities

The wing lamps are getting up rated as well but was just considering doubling down to get max light out put. Would put them on the bumper but as you say the lights are more useful higher up and i have seen a few series 3 with spots high up on the grill and it looks even more of a dogs dinner...

    Series 3 Leagalities

Dose anybody know if it is leagal to do this to a series 3 from 1972. I am wondering as I want to add some extra driving lights and think this is a good way to do it but I am unsure if the vehicle would have had to originally come with the head lights in the center.

    The rebuild begins!

So I managed to get a hold of replace ment ends, under strengthing parts and a new back piece I then also added some thick aluminium sheet to the back and thin to the front side of the seat box to extra reenforce the leading edge. Some pictures of what it is all like reassembled to keep it road...

    The rebuild begins!

So after much faffing around trying to sort the seat box properly in my Landy which expanded to the tub door pillars and the front fwd tub crossmember it was decided that something proper had to be done. So it was all temporarily bolted back together. And the dissmantling has started to get it...

    Series 3 No brakes

Hi no offence taken. No I really am a little on the unknowledge able side when it comes to much out side of engines and transfer boxes related to cars. I'm a marine engineer to trade which means I get a little lost around brakes and more car specific systems. I have had the vehicle for a little...

    Series 3 No brakes

Ok guys thank you all for the replies after finally getting time to investigate I found it is the master cylinder that is leaking. I believe I am correct in thinking the 1972 station wagons are not servo assisted brakes.

    Series 3 No brakes

Hi everyone Got a major problem here. When pushing the brake pedal I knoticed that it was quite soft and had to pump it twice to get it to do anything, the garage suggested that this is due to the shoes needing adjustment but have driven it a bit more after this suggestion the problem has...

    P38A P38 on a budget

Right thanks, actually having looked at the budget I might manage it as at first any way there won't be much expenditure as most of it will be strip down and assessment of the condition of parts which will give me plenty of time save up any mone

    P38A P38 on a budget

Ok thanks guys that's why I asked, may have to have a rethink as an extra £1000 is a lot to take out of the rebuild budget.

    P38A P38 on a budget

Hi guys I'm am considering getting another Land Rover while I restore my series 3 which is my only car currently. This car would not be used a lot maybe 4 months in a year as I'm an out of the country a lot for work. I have a bit of a soft spot for the P38 and it is one of the few land rovers I...

    Tool organisers

I use a Facom 22" cantilever tool box but as soon as I got that it was full to the gunnels. Everything I managed to fit in has to be neatly stacked in. For organising sockets I got magnetic socket trays off of snapon and was kicking my self when I found that laser did the same ones £15 cheaper...

    Series 3 Seat boxes

Right oh guys well I have found a replacement gearbox but my now significant problem is most of the seat box and surrounding area is going to disintegrate when I take it out. So it seems a new seat box back angle strip, seat box ends, striker panels, I'm thinking that while I'm at it I will do...
