Some parts of Land Rover made of chocolate!?

Couldn't do with a spanner, didn't have a fitting socket. Just ran to Halfords and got on. Got it off now.. Put the new one on, but engine just turns, won't start!

Some parts of Land Rover made of chocolate!?

And now I cannot get the bolt out of the Crank sensor, it's locked tight. Any ideas please?? I don't want to risk threading it or worse

Some parts of Land Rover made of chocolate!?

Got them off keeping pressure behind them, firstly with a flathead screwdriver, then the wedge end of the wheel nut breaker bar. Chocolate though

Some parts of Land Rover made of chocolate!?

What a silly issue to encounter.... I'm removing the inner wheel arch, or at least trying, to get to the crank sensor. Of course, the made of chocolate it seems plastic nuts just spin and won't unthread. Any ideas how to resolve and get them off? I'll replace with proper nuts, so now need to...

    Sanity check, jacking points

Yes, FL2. Sorry I should have stated. Using the bolt / subframe now. Seems ok, only need to get it high enough for axel stands. Thought the brick shaped block that sticks out underneat with the 2 holes is the official point, but not sure.

Freelander 2 (LR2) [FIXED] LR2 Suspected Turbo Failure

The hose part numbers were a challenge! I had to buy turbo to intercooler from MTC (hoping they are correct as the diameter looks on smaller side and not a 90 degree turbo pipe. Intercooler to throttle body/inlet are Britpart, bought from one of the 4x4 Landover sites I found on Google. My...

    Sanity check, jacking points

Hi all quick sanity check as I usually use ramps. I need to jack the front to get the wheel off to do the sensor and check the turbo hose. I've got side bars/steps on mine. Can't see the best hacking point to lift it to get the wheel off. Is it the rectangle shaped area with the 2 holes in that...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Hoses

I've just run a TopDon OBD check, no codes, was slightly surprised at that. But all clear. Doing the crank pulse sensor later today or tomorrow. I also did a soft reset of the learning for the gearing, I think it is, oddly this does seem to be making it drive better in the short time since, no...

    Freelander 2 door locks

Sounds like the mechanism has failed. Common fault. Its a DIY job if you are mechanically minded. I did mine in about 1.5 hours, but it is fiddly and it is tight and difficult at stages, but perfectly DIY. Locks are about 30 quid online. Theres a decent Youtube video I found and followed...

Freelander 2 (LR2) [FIXED] LR2 Suspected Turbo Failure

Thanks, will check that. We got the car at 42k miles, its just ticked over 70k, and the fuel filter not changed in my time. I'd be surprised if it was done 42k or less, but never know.

Freelander 2 (LR2) [FIXED] LR2 Suspected Turbo Failure

The one in the video, i've already changed, that was split. Don't buy or use a cheap amazon or ebay job, not a correct size and fitting and more hassle than worth, as its already a difficult / tight spot to work in. After changing this hose, mine was all good for a few weeks, now get some...

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Hoses

Thanks for clarifying that. I was mixing crank and cam there. So yes, its the crank sensor by the pulley that i have and will change.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Hoses

Thanks for the response. MIL light and limp mode kicked in when hose split. Happened a Friday evening a mile from home, took it home, ordered a cheap poor fitting amazon pipe which arrived the Saturday morning and that problem sorted. There's 2 sensors for crank though right, the crank...

Hi, similar'ish problem myself right now. Did you get to the bottom of this? Got a solution?

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Hoses

Hi all Not been on here a while, generally had a good running FL2 SD4 and kept it serviced and change what needs doing. Recently had the hose from intercooler, into the the throttle body blow. Replaced with a cheap amazon next day delivery job to get the car back on the road. Still on there...

    2013 FL2 SD4 - Noise accelerating

Not since we've had it in 18mths. Where does that assembly sit (if its not part of the braking system)? I checked the parking brake works and it does. Is the parking brake assembly anything to do with Park mode on the autos? At low speed and low revs, there was no audible noise and the car...

For informational purposes, here's two recordings from this morning, the bottom one at about 30 seconds is as bad as it sounded.

    2013 FL2 SD4 - Noise accelerating

Well, its sorted, kind of! So as I tried to explain the sound was metallic and sounded like rubbing. I was taking a look again this morning and did a couple of short runs up and down the road. The sound started the same then rapidly changed/progressed but not in a manner that I was really...

    2013 FL2 SD4 - Noise accelerating

That's what my thoughts were, I'd have had indications leading up to a failure like that, and it well it drives fine for the short attempted journey yesterday in it. Will have another look around it shortly and see if theres anything I missed yesterday, failing that it will need to go to a...

    2013 FL2 SD4 - Noise accelerating

Hi Ian, any ideas are helpful. From what I could see of the heatshield, it looked to be in the right place, though it could have a loose bolt or screw as didnt check for that. Ive spent probably more time than I should scouring the internet for what it might be and there is literally all...
