You will still have to shorten them mate as they dont line up with the frame correctly, i used the later 200 tdi bracket.I am on the phone and its a ball ache to load photos on here, otherwise i would show you ours:)

I did mine myself, td5 bulkhead new, stripped then galved for £75, no issues with distortion, perhaps the biggest job was retapping the threaded holes.

Disco 1 chassis are usually better than defender for condition.

Just checked on the disco we are breaking, the rad mounts are drilled direct into the crossmember on them as well:)

If it worries you fill it with waxoyl?

Also google tdci defender problems think there was a issue with a lift pump and some electrical gremlins, but basically it is a ford transit engine

08 or 09 would be a tdci? Then i'm sure they are chain as well.

Just cut the mounts off and drill holes into the cross member, using the rubber bushes, that is what i have done and you cant tell any difference!

The clamp is only a small bit of sprung metal knocked onto the bonnet catch, costs about 50p but yes you do need it

Disco 2 is a much better car than a 1 less corrosion to worry about, although check the rear of the chassis as they tend to corrode there, more spacious than a d1 and more modern feeling. I have owned both.

The 4.6 is a 3.9 block that has been stroked with a crank, there have been quite a few issues with rpi with there workmanship when you get into building your v8,and trawling the v8 forums as i did,i would reccomend chessman motorsport in coventry for any engine machining and cylinder head work...

Wouldnt bother with rpi for a start.and go for the latest block you can which are cross bolted, top hat liners take away the fear of slipped liners....and you have the jetting for each stage of build for the carbs?

I had a 300 bhp 4.6 in a d2, the engine cost me 8k to build, tbh honest not worth it,the engine is from the 1960's,much easier to get reliable power from a modern engine, audi do a nice v8 engine as well!

How about a jag v8 as done by je engineering?
