Finally getting round to replacing the dasboard 3 years after fitting galved bulkhead! 1 question i could do with help on, the cables that come through the bulk head above the fusebox, do the cables sit under all the plates or sandwiched between the 2?i have tried between but it does not sit...

Best bet is get a parts manual print off and look for the hidden fittings!

I would double check nothing has caused the motor to get stuck in the first place!

Just fitted one on my 1989 90,goes on no problem,but I had to space the expansion tank out a bit and eventually will have to buy a new bonnet prop and clips that go with it.

May be easier for you to replace the whole bulkhead for a better one?

? Discs were fitted by landrover 2 years later, you like lifts i take it? Dont think landrover have lifted a standard defender...

Wouldnt spend too much on the td engine, best bet would be fit a 200 or 300 tdi, then although you have said bulkhead and chassis are ok look at them more carefully and realise they arnt as good as you thought;) not a fan of lifts myself, i think landrover knew what they were doing in the first...

I should check the u.j's straight away though, just in case dont want the prop to launch you into orbit ;)

And afraid you need the cat on it for mot from next year :/

Try running straight from battery to dasboard.

Try using a piece of cable as a new earth by holding the cable to earthing points.

Yep sounds like earthing problem.
