1968 S2a rebuild, yep another project!

What are the opinions on cutting out the rot on the main cross-member and welding in a 3mm steel box section? Welding is not a problem for me so can't see any obvious problems but you guys have more knowledge on Landies than me so more than happy to listen to others opinions.

Thanks James, I was thinking of just fabricating a cover. Could have been in a whole world of hurt there. :(

Can you see why the handbrake doesn't work  Who's nicked me shoes then? Still at least the previous owner put the drum back  That's about where we are at. So more to follow as and when time permits. Oh, BTW what's with the front bumper? Any ideas...

1968 S2a rebuild, yep another project!

Question, does anyone know if the blanking plate on the back of the gearbox, that is currently made of cardboard, should have a bearing or something to support the shaft in the gearbox or is it just a cover? Most of the chassis that is painted black is good. But I'm going to need to weld a...

Still not got to the handbrake yet. Be patient. Nice weather for the time of year... Good news! I found the core plug jammed next to the starter motor. :p

OK we delve deeper and deeper... Not sure if you can see it in the photos but the bolts to the propshaft are fitted the wrong way round. Still nothing on what is wrong with the handbrake

Ah, the chassis, well, er, it's not bad. Now how do you define bad... First job was to take a few bits off to see the pristine chassis and "stuff" attached. Rust, w'ot rust  Did I mention it was a good price. Yeah I know good is not the same as cheap but it makes me feel better...

Not quite MOT ready. Did you spot the "light error" on the wing? First a quick look round the Landy then well get to the interesting bits. The hand brake is not much use, more of that later...

I've got a 2A :D OK it was a bargain, just needs a bit of work... A picture paints a thousand words. This was the journey home. The last picture is when she is at home. No prizes for spotting the first of a "few" interesting modifications. More to follow...

Disco 1 Seized rear wheel bearing on stub axle!

Cheers Paul, at £30 odd for a stub axle that's not too bad. Re the Dremel, I don't have one of those...yet.

Disco 1 Seized rear wheel bearing on stub axle!

Going to have a go with the gas torch first whilst I've still got the puller jammed on. If that fails then a friend has suggested putting the wheel back on and "bouncing" it up and down, well basically getting "jiggy" with it until the hub breaks free. One thing though, then the wheel may...

Disco 1 Seized rear wheel bearing on stub axle!

Hi all, Well just doing a quick change of rear wheel bearings due to them having died. Yep, shagged to the max. I know, should have fixed it when the first rumbles started but its not my car, it's wifey's :-) So it's my fault obviously... Any road upwards, got the big 52mm box spanner and my...

Is a gaylander2 twice as as gay as a gaylander1?

Be careful if you've got a gaylander, there very prone to having bits knicked off them. Only the other day I looked under a gaylander and guess what, some bastard had only gone and knicked the chassis!
