    Freelander starting problems

Wild stab in the dark, look at the Idle Air Control Valve. And don't leave it so long between oil changes in future, keep it to no more than 10k or 12 months max.

    Best and worse mod

Jesus, that is awful. I'd rather walk, or have an Audi Q7. Actually scrub that. Nothing would make me prefer an Audi Q7. Nothing.

    Powerless Freelander.

I suggest looking at the power valve, it could be closed. The Inlet manifold might be an exchange item but if it hasn't been cleaned out of old oil gunk and fitted correctly then it won't work properly and will soon fail yet again, particularly if the VIS motors are on their last legs.

    Landrover Evoque

Stratstone made a bit of a mess of that then. Somehow I don't think they read the Janet & John guide to online marketing. Silly children! Personally I like the Evoque, although I would prefer LR invested in the core range instead of expanding it. The whole lot all need serious overhauling...

    HELP! Frustrating 1.8 K-series starting/running problems

I'd try an OEM sensor and check the idle speed adjustment too.

    Load cover

Rimmer Brothers sell them brand new for about £150. Fleabay ones are between a third and half the price. You can try the scrappers, such as Equicar, but I'd be a bit surprised if they had one. Not very common item and tend to get snapped up when they do come up for grabs.

    160bhp K series?

Lesson for you then manx - don't believe these cheap upgrade promises on fleabay. If they were any good they'd be OEM equipment. Same goes for those ion straightening magnet things for the fule line. Waste of time and money. Best way to approach eeking more from a K is to start with...

    160bhp K series?

K Series heads should not be skimmed as they have a treated surface which will be removed. There was a factory bulletin published concerning this, damned if I can remember the reference for it mind. The MLS gasket can tolerate a minor amount of distortion, but if it's excessive then the only...

    160bhp K series?

Manx, the electric supercharger thing is an utter con. It's snake oil, about as much use as slippers on a dolphin. Anyone who buys one of those needs their bumps felt.

    newbie cooling

Good to hear you've got that job done. It's not too bad a job if a touch fiddly at times due to access. Keep an really sharp eye on the coolant level from now on - literally every trip if you can for the tme being - and fingers crossed you've sorted it out. Stupid question but you have used...

    front wiper twitch

It may be the wiper arm drive might be at fault, either failed or jammed, along with the motor possibly being duff.

    newbie cooling

If you are experiencing coolant loss and there are no obvious signs around the unit, have a butchers at the engine undertray to see if it looks wet, and from there have a look round the bottom of the cambelt cover. Using some tracer dye helps a lot. The water pump can fail and it's a good...

RAVE is the dealer workshop CD which covers the entire range of late Rover/MG/Land Rover models. You can buy a genuine copy from XPart. Some people buy pirate copies of the CD, which personally I don't condone but it happens.
