    Any MOT testers about?

File = 15, buffers = 20... bottom of the ninth and all to play for! Who is this "General failure" and why is he reading my hard disk? 20 years in IT, I'd write a book if i thought anyone would believe me...

Army Land Rover Wolf will not go above 50MPH

I'm printing this out for my old man, he's a retired REME major and appreciates a good joke...

    19 year old geordie :D

Welcome aboard Joe, and for all the old-timers out there, can you remember what you were driving when you were 19? Can you remember being 19?

    That was a relief....

Once had a bottle of water roll out from under the driver’s seat and get tangled up in the pedals. Couldn't brake or drop the clutch and had a junction coming up fast... banned my daughter from drinking in the car after that. Not nearly as much fun as the time when the bolt holding the...

Buying my 1st Freelander - Any tips?

Stu – One of my biggest concerns about getting a Hippo was the fuel economy. I’ve only had my 1.8GS for two weeks (I’ve done just under 1,000 miles in that time) and so far those fears have proved unfounded (along with those about the doors falling off in the rain &#8211...

poorly sick old v8 (rough running) :(

Had similar problems when I picked up a '69 Rover P6 (same engine I believe). New points, plugs and as Fett said timing, a weekend of balancing the carbs (by ear!) and off we roared.

    Honeymoon’s over...

Found it again! Link to the white paper... Vanagon Body Repair Manual DD - don't know if I'm alone in thinking it's getting harder and harder to find someone who's prepared to make an effort these days, let alone finding someone who knows what they're doing!

    Honeymoon’s over...

I normally get good service from Kwik-tit but this time I got the feeling they just didn't want to know. Spoke to the dealership I got the car from and he's put me on to their tyre guy, hopefully he'll not be scared of doing a days work for his wage... Singvogel - can't find the link but...

    Honeymoon’s over...

Well, took a chance on Saturday and drove to Castleton in Derbyshire (a trip of about 60 miles), touch-test on arrival and the VCU was warm. I guess my 8 mile drive home just wasn’t long/hard enough to get a usable reading. Also found an interesting white paper on VCUs which has helped...

    Honeymoon’s over...

DD/Singvogle - Got it, thanks. Tires are all good, same make (Pirelli Scorpion s/t) same tread depths across the face. I'm going to assume rotating the spare wheel onto the car periodically isn't a good idea then as it's bound to have less wear than the ones on already fitted? Might take the...

    Honeymoon’s over...

Cheers guys. Regarding the VCU, I’d read ( Freelander Problems from Replacing Your Tyres, and how a Viscous Coupling (VCU) Unit Fails | ) that the reverse was true; cold was good, hot was bad.

    Honeymoon’s over...

Morning all... Picked up my ’02 1.8 GS last Saturday, although I’m still chuffed to bits I’m putting together a small list for niggles that hopefully I can get sorted under warranty. The simple stuff (like the fact that she pulls to the left a little, buzzing speaker and driver’s window...

    Belgian humour.

You couldn't organise something like that in the UK, even if you tried 'elf and safety would put the kibosh on the whole idea before you got it off the ground. Nice saddle-warmer on the bike though...

    Hello from Scampton!

Snaggers – in these days of austerity you’ve got to keep up a good sense of humour, it’s cheaper than getting the sights fixed on my rifle. Anyhoo, they said it would happen and sure enough, they were right! Picked up my Freelander on Saturday, got about a mile from the garage before I broke...

    johnnys series 3 resto project

I’ve been dipping in and out of this tread all day (should be working but there you go) and I’ve got to ask whether or not Hollywood have got the movie rights to this story yet, I’m sure even Brad Pitt could be taught to look convincing with a welding rig... or possibly not...

    Hello from Scampton!

Do they actually drop off or do they dissolve like those on a Ford Focus? Just wondering whether to take bungees or bin bags... and if I replace the doors with bin bags do I need to declare that to the insurance hounds as an "upgrade"? :D
