My D2 V8 seems to flatten its battery if I don't drive it evey day. What's the easiest way to trace an electrical fault? I was thinking about putting a meter on the battery and taking out the fuses one by one. Would that work?

It's been a bit of a struggle but the Disco V8 is now on the road. It cost me just over £2k for both the car and then the engine repair; costing me a bit more now cos I seem to be drawn into a spending spree and buying "stuff" to bling it up!

Managed to get the car in for a last minute MoT. It only failed on worn wipers so now have a fully functioning vehicle again. Just need insurance and tax and its good to go.

I'm trying to remove one of the heads due to a blowing HG; however, when I took the valley gasket off, a load of bits fell into the camshaft! Is it best to just take the cam out or totally remove the engine? Any thoughts?

Attempted to remove the head bolts today of my V8 Disco 2 but my socket kept slipping on the first bolt resulting in bleeding knuckles. I'm not too sure whether the slippage is due to using a 16mm 12-point socket or should I use a 6-point 5/8" instead?

A quick update, I bought the tool to hold the pulley, wedged a bit of wood between it and one of the other pulleys and smacked the 36mm spanner with a lump hammer a couple of times. Came undone quite easily in the end.

It's always obvious when it pointed out! What's the easiest way to break the seal between the head and the manifold? I don't want to damage anything! Any idea what size bolt it is holding the rocker covers down? 4 bolts per side, each bolt head is 12 pointed star shape.

It is the Thor engine; there are 12 bolts in total holding the lower manifold in position but I can't get the 4 central ones completely out. Whoever fitted the LPG made it very difficult to do so as described in my first post.
