I finally got around to it and renewed the thermostat! The car now gets up to temperature within a mile from home and I have warm air issuing from the heater. I'm not totally sure why it's taken me 8 months to get it replaced. Next on the list is brake pads; I probably need to sort this out...

I'm asking cos years ago, I had a Freelander and bought a new thermostat for it and never got around to fit it. Apparently, it'll fit a Disco 2 but it's got a lower opening temperature. I was hoping to use it rather than buy another one!

What's the advantage of running a cooler thermostat on a V8?

Just saw the video of it on YouTube and I'm a bit underwhelmed. It just looks like a slightly larger version of the Disco Sport. Any thoughts about it?

Never thought of that; It may well have not been working to specification! Too late now though, in a fit of frustration and with the use of an angle-grinder, it has gone the same way as the Norwegian Blue!

On my car, the previous owner had monkeyed about with it and all pipes needed replacing due to corrosion. Final straw was the pump seizing and causing a snapped belt! I also caused an issue when changing springs. It may well be brilliant when kept in order but when it's neglected...

Are you putting taller/uprated springs on your car? I know that you can replace the springs without having to resort to spring compressors. I have just done it on my car.

I've just replaced ACE on my car with such a kit, due to economic (and corrosion) reasons. Can't say I notice any difference at all in the handling. I just started from the rear of the car and worked forward; removing the system as I went. Prepare for oil spillage, I put lots of cardboard down...

My car no longer has any parking sensors and I want it to stop giving the long continuous beep when I put it in reverse. Can I just rip the speaker out or do I need to try and re-programme an ECU ot something? Anyone ever done this?

Areas of concern? Even if you get the latest youngest one you can find; it's going to be 12 years old! Anything can be altered, changed, added to, taken off etc., get one with relatively low miles and with a good service history...

Disco 1 or 2? A colleague of mine fitted them on his D2 (with OME suspension) without any bodywork trimming at all. Not sure what else he did regarding your others points, although he did turn his spare wheel carrier around.

I've not used the EKA before and from what I can gather from other posts on this forum, it's not always a permanent solution.
