Just about to place an order for a full exhaust system for my 1973 series 3, 2.25 petrol. I dont actually have a diagram handy but Im just wondering other than the exhaust system is there any other bits I should order at the same time to complete fitting it. Thanks in advance:)

Now you mention it..its not actually fitted. Although when I bought the landrover it wasnt actually connected up ,just hanging there, and run fine?will sort that tonight. No the valves wernt re ground,, just had a head skim. My gut feeling was the problem lies at where the inlet and exhaust...

Thanks for your reply, Engine just started 2nd turn of key,, and like said before is hellish loud and lumpy, whole vehicle shakes. Removed spark plugs one by one from front of engine back to bulkhead,,, first plug removed spluttered and stalled, second and third plug the same,, 4th plug removed...

Just to give you all an update, Got the cylinder head skimmed for £30 at a place just up the road from me,, refitted yesterday with new head gasket,, and new exhaust manifold. Just needing the studs that attach the exhuast manifold to inlet manifold if anyone knows the part number,would be a...

Just an update: Decided to take head off today and found it pretty straight forward following your advice and the trusty haynes manual, didnt refit all back together due to not having a gasket as yet. After removing the old gasket which was a copper one so came away easy, I noticed there was...

Checked oil and all seemd fine,,,no mayonaisse effect.Top hose didnt feel all that hard really either.Did worry at first that Id fitted thermostat upside down so took it all off,,,but found it can only be fitted one way or wont bolt back up tight. Replaced thermostat with the same one (74...

Just an update: New thermostat fitted and still over heats, although no visible coolant loss. With the new thermostat fitted (which I tested prior to fitting in a pan of water and it does appear to open slightly) it only takes a few minutes on idle to boil. Although with no thermostat fitted...
