I finally went out and bought a mig welder :). So now I fancy a wee project in replacing some of the rear chassis. Does anyone have or know of where I can get templates or detailed drawings of the chassis to reproduce sections prior to welding them in? Cheers.

Finally got it off and it doesn't look too bad inside. Some evidence of silt in the workings but the motor turns freely and without any roughness.
