I have read this letter before on another forum and there was speculation as to it's authenticity, and whether the problem stems more from the nickname 'carwash' in thinking that the crossing is used to clean vehicles after offroading trips.
I had this problem and you can put it right in less than five mins.
get your head down in the fotwell and look up the pedal. Where the pushrod connects to the pedal you will see a bolt, undo it and if you rotate it you will see the pedal height rise and lower as the bolt is i think they call...
The Paintman - Homepage
Actually i think that might be a different company, got this off another forum

Judging by the air vent on the left wing it's a 200tdi but being a G reg it is probably a Turbo Diesel TD.
As for painting get in touch with 'The paintman' from Wolverhampton i think, he is on the net and he goes to alot of the landy shows and you can buy decent landy colours.
If your not...
I had a series 2 swb truck cab and the rear crossmember didn't quite look right until someone pointed out that it was a lightweight chassis! All the panels etc seemed to be in the correct place and in order, it also had a 2.8 german ford V6. Very fast but all round drum brakes were a bit dodgy...
Checked with GPS, speedo is bang on the exact speed.
Checked distance with GPS and 39 GPS miles were 37 miles on the odometer.
Basically the roofrack even unladen was losing me 25% efficiency mainly used on 30/40 mph roads. It feels a bit nippier too!
I took my arches off once to repaint the body, most of the plastic 'bits' broke so i used cable ties, the arches fitted perfectly, a bit fiddly to do though.
Have you got it set to blow on windscreen only? Try it set on footwell, they usually blow warmer then.
OR
Have you topped up your water with the blower set on cold when you did it? If so you might have to do it again.
A few months back i replaced my roofrack with a funky one with folding ladder and also bought a set of 265/75 r16 mud terrains.
Anyhow my defender 300tdi mpg dropped to 21 mpg?? I thought at first it might be the tyres but having removed the roofrack it's back to 28mpg!!!!
I know roofracks might...
Call the NFU (wolverhampton branch), staff are really helpful and you will get insured no problem. I have always been with them with different land rovers and there has never been an issue.
The only reason a lock and load is approved as child seat safe is because it doesnt fold in an impact.
Minibus seats are approved for child seats, otherwise they wouldn't be fitted in child carrying minibuses.
They have integrated belts, the seat backs are stronger than the front seats, if...
Hi Odenne,
I was going to do that but i mounted mine on the rear arches facing forward. You can get about two thirds of the seat onto the arch and with enough bolts they stay secure. My built in belts had the reel sitting below the seat base so the overhang allows for it. I had to swap round...
Just an update (late i know!)
Had a replacement gearbox and everything was fine, the hi/low problem was just lack of use. All the clunks i had when accelerating disappeared as well, it was the gearbox, worn out.
Fitted a cross drilled gear as well as the old shaft was rusty as hell.
Just an update as to what i did to solve the problem.
In the end i got hold of two 'mini bus' seats with built in seat belts. I removed the legs. There were four bolts and nuts that held the legs on and the bolts were inserted into rails underneath the seat. I then drilled four holes in the...
Nah, the space is too valuable, i do however have a roofrack down the back of the garden. Now the sunny weather is nearly here i could rig them up on the roof. Sure would be quiter on a journey!
Cheers guys,
I have two kiddies and i can't get both in the front! So one has to go in the back. At the moment it's looking like i will have to buy the 'tested' lock down seat. Other than that i am wondering whether it is possible to bolt down a supposed forward facing fold up highback seat so...
Hi all,
To cut a long story short i need a seat in the back of my 90 that i can strap in my 2 year olds car seat. Exmoor trim do a seat but for £495? yeah right! Do any of you guru's know of anywhere else i can get a forward facing seat at a more sensible cost that i can safely fit a child seat...
