Yes it will start mine as being a 95dt the fob is only used for remote locking. However in later years the fob has to interact with a coil at the ignition switch. Not sure but I think from 96 on. You could check by taking out batteries from your fob and trying it before you buy one.

Update Running for week now with new reg/brushs. Runs at 14.3-14.5v. Batt volts in eve 12.5v dropping to 11.95 in morning. So yesterday did current test. When becm at sleep still 0.4a flow. Took out fuses in turn. When either 39 or 41 were taken out current drops to required 0.04a. Therefore...

I did just what your proposing and it worked fine. Got it from lrdirect.com. You should also order the slider pins with it as old ones probably corroded.
