    Td5 Tyres

TYRESAVE: Tyre Size Calculator this shows that the 60s will be 22mm larger or 3.12% difference in diameter. This will have a bearing on the speedometer reading (it will under-read). Accelleration may be slightly slower. What you really need to know is, will they fit under the arches without...

Discovery s2 TD5 auto crap on diesel

This works out about 16mpg:eek: . My 4.0i V8 has done better. To work out the fuel consumption you need to fill the car up, zero the trip meter and when you fill it up again note the amount in litres and the mileage covered. Divide the amount of litres by 4.545 to get gallons then divide the...

    towbar.......

Leave it on it makes a great mechanical reversing sensor. It also reduces the chances of your car being damaged if shunted from behind.

    id check

Walk away, you have made a judgement regarding the seller, trust your instincts. If you buy the car you will always wonder about it, wether you've HPI checked it or not.

    Could / Should I ... fit a towbar??

Otherwise known as a 'mechanical reversing sensor'. They are very easy to fit although the electrics can be tricky. Try Land Rover Freelander Towbars from Towsure, you'll get the right electrics from them as well.

    Alternative handbrake?

This isn't a trialling scam to fit fiddle brakes is it? Ok then, have a look at the Rover 820/827, the rear calipers have the handbrake facility built in and are possibly a staight swap for the LR ones.

    Alternative handbrake?

It's very rare for modern cars to suffer total brake failure. It would be possible to fit rear calipers from a large Rover or Honda saloon that incorporate a handbrake mechanism but not worth the bother as they tend to seize up/ break as they age. You would have to source handbrake cables of...

    97 Discovery V8 4.0L Manual won't start. :(

It sounds like the starter is jammed or shorting out. Remove the starter and clean everything up making sure all the moving parts including the solenoid are free. Good luck.

    Heated mirrors

I assume one of your heated mirrors isn't working, if so why do you think the element has failed, have you chjecked the wiring? If you want a 'new' heated element you could try a car breaker, you'll probably find the mirror is similar to some Rover car models.

Oil light flickers on at tickover

The V8 engine tends to have a low oil pressure at tickover anyway, this is one of the reasons it has a large oil capacity. The light can be caused by nothing worse than a faulty oil pressure sender switch so that is worth changing anyway. Make sure the oil pressure relief valve (on the oil...

You may need a new lpg filter or the gas pressure re-set. You probably need to take the car to an lpg specialist to be set up right.
