BMW motor with automatic gearbox and beam axles is about all the info I’ve seen.

    Central Locking Kit

I bought one several years ago and it was easy to fit and worked fine,. The hardest bit is tucking the wires away tidily, eventually though the very fine wires started to fray and split .

    Clutch Fork

Many moons ago whilst changing the clutch I found that a washer had been welded over the rod onto the fork arm so have subsequently done the same so it’s always where it should be .( obviously the rod was free to move)

    Door seals!

If it’s any consolation they all go there,I’ve welded several up over the years.

    rear axle swop

Yup , have disco rear axle(circa94) fitted on my year 90 defender , bolt in , bolt out. Did it years ago

    Clutch push rod clip

Took mine apart once to find the rod was loosely welded on with a washer so subsequently always done the same.

To sell or keep ... defenders going up in value ??

I personally think they’re cheap to run if part of the ownership is working on them. all cars are money pits, especially new. Most people only care about the monthly repayment that they can afford and will pay 2-3K per year for a car they will never own .

Anyone else out there use there Defender for work?

Using in Spain every day, property maintenance and reforms. A transit would be more useful but that means two vehicles plus everyone loves my old truck.

    Defender upgrades

Why not enjoy as is, a good service and check throughout . Do you want it to go faster? Use on more extreme terrain? A bit of soundproofing won’t go amiss if you’re planning longer trips .our family uses our completely standard 1994 110 every day for all sorts and wouldn’t change for the world.

Does anyone else think the 2020 Defender is just hideous?

Until we see genuine pictures of the production model can’t really say but it’s looking pretty good I reckon.

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Welded up the crack in the frame of the front door that finally broke,as they all eventually do in that place.

    Reliability

Are you sure it’s not you who wants the defender in your life?a defender has been my daily drive for many years and much as I love it, maintenance is never ending though done by my self. I can’t help thinking if she doesn’t need (or want)a defender buy her a vw golf or similar.

    Door card off!

They all go there at this spot exactly( if cars of a certain age) quick bead of weld sorts it out. Just one of those things that Land Rover let go by when not investing in the model.
