I have been having steering issues with my 1999 TD5 110. I took a look under the front, and what I think is the track rod (do they call this the radius arm in the workshop manual?) is bent. Should this rod be straight or bent??? Thanks.

You brilliant man@!! I disconnected the wires on the brake fluid sensor, and the light went off. The hand brake sensor is working fine. The weird thing is that the brake fluid isn't too low. I'll top it up and go from there. I can disconnect the wires to get me through the MOT any way. Cheers

I have recently had my Defender (TD5 - 110) fail its (Spanish) MOT because the park light on the dash doesn't go out when I release the hand brake. I thought it was the micro switch on the hand brake lever, so I replaced it, but the light is still on. Has anyone else had a similar problem...

Howdy I have just had our toothless goat herder of a local mechanic fit a brand new front prop shaft (complete with UJ's)., When he took it out of the packaging, he split the two shafts. I mentioned that they might have been balanced but he said don't worry. The damn thing now vibrates more...

Just got under the bonnet, and had a good look at the steering box, and the pump. There is definitely steering fluid leaking from the pump, but not the box. Access is pretty difficult, and I don't have the correct sized spanners to get to the hose connections on the pump. I think I might order a...

Just checked the PAS fluid level, an it needed plenty. Just about to start and trace where the leak is. Are there any common places where the hoses go?? Many Thanks

I have just recently started to get a whining sound from the power steering of my 1999 TD5 110. It has got gradually louder. Could this mean that the power steering pump is about to go?? The strange thing is that the noise gets louder with the amount of revs. Thanks.

Further to a previous post........ I am trying to find my VIN plate. I have a Defender 110 1999 (TD5), Special Vehicles. There is a Chassis No. tag on the passenger side, inside the lower section of the windscreen. Is this it???? Isn't there any kind of other plate located under the bonnet...

That's great info Shifty. Thank you. I had the starter motor off about 10 days ago (replaced bendix and contacts). Could this have any negative effect on the alternator/battery/ charging system??? Many Thanks

Great advice; Thank you. Can a dodgy earth somewhere, effect the way that the alternator charges??? Using the multimeter, it isn't showing any increase in voltage when the engine is running, hence me thinking the alternator is knackered. It is weird though, that I put on a new one last year.
