    P38 starting problems

Had a look at fuses in engine bay, that all looks fine, he's only steam cleaned the area around the FIP. Hard to get to any of the connectors to take them off.. Managed to get the one off from the needle lift sensor off and it all looked ok. But no matter what I try do I can't get a reading on...

    P38 starting problems

Lucky I have a spare on the donor motor then. Will hope it dries out ok to start with then
  4. S

    P38 starting problems

    Haha. Easy to fix then?

    P38 starting problems

Could moisture in the connectors cause all these errors then?

    P38 starting problems

Just spoke to garage. He advised me to check all the fuses and also he gave it a good steam clean to a bit of water may have worked into connectors and be throwing up the faults. Is that likely? Checked the wire from needle lift sensor and it looks ok Hot start fix not removed yet but will...

    P38 starting problems

I've unplugged the needle lift sensor and re plugged it back in. All the wire looks to be fine and still no better

    P38 starting problems

Also the injector set point degrees reads 0.00 all the time. And when sat with it idling after a while it just stops for no reason

    P38 starting problems

I'm also getting the following Road speed sensor out of expected range Water temp invalid value Any idea? I've tried clearing the faults but they come straight back

    P38 starting problems

Just a got the p38 back from the garage, fitted the pump off the donor motor, now fires first crank when hot, and pulls away like a train..... Well happy and he only charged me £200... Said he checked the timing on the old pump and it wasn't very far out at all so was the pump causing the...

    Gearbox fault

They specialise just in land rovers so they should know a thing or 2.. He's rebuilt a p38 gearbox for me a few years back, great service. I'd recommend them to anyone in the area... Just hope I haven't damaged it removing it. First time I've done owt with a FIP and I didnt have the special tools..

    Gearbox fault

    Gearbox fault

Right, been to see local land rover specialist today and told him all my symptoms he said as has already been said by you guys, FIP I've removed the FIP from donor that's got no problems and he's fitting it for me £150 - £200

    Gearbox fault

Fair point... I'm gonna take it back off till its running right then try it again
  17. S

    Gearbox fault

I will have a read about. But if sure makes a difference
  18. S

    Gearbox fault

You did say that but I hoped anyway for a cheaper fix. I will be taking the FIP off the donor anyway and start getting the timing kit together. The lift pump was fine, 180 ml in 10 seconds. I was messing about earlier and thought I would try that powerbox for a laugh.. No effect on the take...

    Gearbox fault

Reason I ask is on a 175000 miler I would expect starting issues especially as there's no hot start fix. It fires first turn cold starting and cranks once or twice for hot starts with no glows and all is good.. But the FIP looks in better condition than the rest of the engine. So perhaps been...

    Gearbox fault

Is the FIP the same on the 95 DT and the 2000 dhse?
