I think it's a very rare person that gets it right first time so brace yourself...you will be chucking thousands at it. A top tip is to never tally all the spending up, and learn to lie with a straight face to your partner and others. Welcome to potential ownership!
Anybody know what the driveshaft thread size is in the middle of the shaft? Tried various, 8mm and 10mm it ain't. Need to know to be able to pull the shaft that extra 2mm to get the circular on, (trying to fit HD flanges.
Thanks.
I paid a fair amount for it as it was a 2 owner 68k truck, I knew it would need a chassis however the other bits start to add up (new tank, brake callipers etc.). Timing belt and new clutch have been done while it was convenient. Hopefully it will see me out now!
OK here is my twopenneth! Just got my '87 MOD back from having an 11L fitted (Thur.), while it does look right and goes well it rattles like crazy at tickover, hopefully fitting some S3 diesel rubbers will help. I paid 1k for my set up though a very good gearbox came with it. I also got 200...
Prices steady or on the up here in the North East. Just flogged one last week, old TD with miles on, though all original, no checkerplate, hadn't been painted wi' a stick. Should have held out for more but quick sale needed!

Just did mine! I can recommend this garage, mind there is a waiting list, he advertises in Classic Land Rover very other month and gives prices.
How's the bike? (seeing you're sort of OK).
Rest up and don't rush it, our heads tell us we fix up as quick as a 17.year old...here's the rub.....we don't. Chin up!!
