    Heavy Duty Torque Converter

Hi All....if anyone is considering one of these I can't recommend it highly enough. I had one fitted recently and it makes a huge difference to the driving experience....engine pulls lovely and "low down" in the rev range as opposed to revving away. Expensive job to get done, since the gearbox...

    Gearbox "Clunk"

Thanks Sierra....but the cluck only started after I got the new HD Torque converter put in, so could it be that the diffs etc...that you suggest are now showing up as a result of the extra "kick" from the bigger TC? I'll look into replacing the Diffs anyway.

    Gearbox "Clunk"

Hi All....my previous post on this didn't describe the problem very well, so I will go again: Had a new heavy duty torque converter installed last week and while the new converter is great, I now have a strange "clunk" from the gearbox which I didn't have before. The "clunk" is different...

New Heavy Duty Torque Converter causing "shunt"

Have reset the adaptive settings and still the same "jerk" especially when downshifting from 2nd to 1st (very noticeable). Should resetting adaptive settings give an immediate effect or does it take time?

New Heavy Duty Torque Converter causing "shunt"

No it was a local mechanic installed the heavy duty converter for me but he has limited diagnostic gear...he uses a colleague a few miles away for that sort of stuff. I just wanted to understand it myself.

    Gearbox adaptive settings

Ok...I can find someone. But I just want to understand myself what the procedure is. Where do you connect the nanocom and what function do you use?

New Heavy Duty Torque Converter causing "shunt"

    door card

Mark....I did this myself only recently and all I did was remove the 3 screws (one in the door handle and 2in the grab handle), then I got a flat blade knife and just worked the door card loose. You just need to slide something behind the door card and apply some force. Don't worry you wont...

New Heavy Duty Torque Converter causing "shunt"

Only additional work that he did was to drain the old fluid and refill with new ATF. When you say problems with transmission cold now be showing up....any thoughts as to what that might be that's causing the shunt? Problem wasn't there until new torque converter fitted today. Thanks.

New Heavy Duty Torque Converter causing "shunt"

Hi All....got a heavy duty torque converter (Ashcroft Transmission' supplied) installed today by a local mechanic. Its working in that the gear changes are happened with less revs but there's a very noticeable "shunt" when the box is moving through the gears. Its very noticeable from 1st to 2nd...

    Max Tyre Size

Right Guys....excellent feedback....a couple if questions: Pawl...ok so I'll rule out 235/85's based on your feedback Sierra...really interested in your feedback as commonly held belief is its all about sidewall. I don't see 265's in your chart? Orch...when you say 265/70/16 will just...

    Max Tyre Size

Hi Guys...anyone any real world experience of fitting either: 245/75/R16 or 235/85/R16 to a stock disco 2 on coils. I've read some conflicting posts recently...some saying modification is required, others saying no. I'm changing down from R18's in the hope to improve the harsh ride...

    No Cold Air

Hi Sierra...that's for that. Couple of things though...if I'm sitting in the driveway and turn the aircon on, and its under 28degress, than the compressor should run regardless of the fan...or not. Don't doubt you're probably right by the way....just trying to understand the relationship...
