Thanks Sierra....but the cluck only started after I got the new HD Torque converter put in, so could it be that the diffs etc...that you suggest are now showing up as a result of the extra "kick" from the bigger TC? I'll look into replacing the Diffs anyway.

Hi All....my previous post on this didn't describe the problem very well, so I will go again: Had a new heavy duty torque converter installed last week and while the new converter is great, I now have a strange "clunk" from the gearbox which I didn't have before. The "clunk" is different...

Have reset the adaptive settings and still the same "jerk" especially when downshifting from 2nd to 1st (very noticeable). Should resetting adaptive settings give an immediate effect or does it take time?

No it was a local mechanic installed the heavy duty converter for me but he has limited diagnostic gear...he uses a colleague a few miles away for that sort of stuff. I just wanted to understand it myself.

Hi...I believe the job is at least a full days work and parts of it will require 2 guys....so can't imagine you will get it much cheaper than 600.

Mark....I did this myself only recently and all I did was remove the 3 screws (one in the door handle and 2in the grab handle), then I got a flat blade knife and just worked the door card loose. You just need to slide something behind the door card and apply some force. Don't worry you wont...

Only additional work that he did was to drain the old fluid and refill with new ATF. When you say problems with transmission cold now be showing up....any thoughts as to what that might be that's causing the shunt? Problem wasn't there until new torque converter fitted today. Thanks.

Hi Sierra...that's for that. Couple of things though...if I'm sitting in the driveway and turn the aircon on, and its under 28degress, than the compressor should run regardless of the fan...or not. Don't doubt you're probably right by the way....just trying to understand the relationship...
