    Rubber Prop Shaft Doughnut......DEAD!!!

I just thought that i would share this with some like minded landrover people!! About a week ago my 1995 300Tdi ES Auto developed a rather strange vibration when accelerating. I had a quick look and couldnt really see anything too offending. I drove it steady for a day or two and it got...

Discounted Insurance? By joining a club??

It's that time of year again where ye olde insurance is up for renewal, and after endless hours on hold, I finally got a quote which I was resonably happy with. I asked the advisor " Is there any way we can shave a few quid off? " (you've got to ask!!!) And to my absolute disbelief his...

    juddering when reversing

I have just been through this with my 300 Disco. It turned out to be the rear output bearing on the TF box, it meant the handbrake drum wasnt running "true" To find out if its the handbrake shoes, wind the expander right in (so the handbrake shoes are no where near the drum) and try...

front prop and possible transfer box issues

I would check the UJ's for any play and give them a good greasing while the prop is off. I would check there is no play in the prop shaft on the splines and give the slider some action with the grease gun. Other than that....put the prop back on.

front prop and possible transfer box issues

How much play?? Do u mean rotational play "slack" or do you mean bearing play??

front prop and possible transfer box issues

What jamesmartin said. Definitely not in diff lock. Get under the disco and look at the transfer box, on top of the TF box just above the front prop output is the diff lock selector. Get somebody to sit in the car and move the lever while your underneath. You will be able to see if the...

    Front Prop Spline Wear??

I took the front prop off today and got it on the bench. The yokes were at 45degrees to oneand other so i marked it up and split the shaft to have a close look at the splines. There was a small amount of wear on the splines. There was a key way on the splines and the reciever, so the shaft...

    Front Prop Spline Wear??

Are there any reference marks on the front prop to assist in alligning the yokes? So, split the shaft and refit with the yokes aligned? And that's it?

    Front Prop Spline Wear??

I see...ive recentlt put a transfer box in it (twice) but thats a different story. Might rotate props tomorrow. Would this be the same with the front prop or is it worse on the rear prop with it been longer??

    Front Prop Spline Wear??

When the front prop is off my Disco there is a tiny bit of play in the splines. Would this cause a vibration through the floor of the car whilst accelerating? Does this mean that the prop is bolloxed? Answers on a post card please.....any help is appreciated! Getting p****d off now with...

help the hi lo shift stick stuck

U might have to strip the console out of the middle. Disconnect the linkage and removes the whole lever assembly (only a few bolts) and get it int vice, loads of WD40 and keep working it. I've had them so siezed in the past that I've soaked them overnight in diesel.

    Disco Virgin...

It's fuel consumption that's the killer....I've had 3 v'8s and it's the running costs that make them hard to keep on the road. If there's any sign it uses water leave well alone
