General towing question - car trailer nose weight

I'd probably do it by eye - put the centre of the car just behind the trailer axle(s) (since more of the unladen weight is at the front), and see how the Rover dips. Of course, if your D2 is on air it won't dip, which is the danger - too much nose weight and you over stress the air bags.

    Series 2b's

Unlikely, there's 10 years' difference between the two vehicles. I suspect the "Big Rover" lost out to the 2b FC, and the fact that Rover Ltd. were going through a merger with BMC.

Thought that was the one with tractor tyres and geared hubs (what's the term?)

Discreet winch mount - help before I start

Yes, exactly that. Inside the box, the relay is attached via thick bars. Just unbolt, and add long cables up to wherever you site the box - as I say, I put mine in the battery box where the jack normally sits. I also added a wireless control box, so I don't use the wander lead.

    2, yes Two amigos!?

That's normal. The light doesn't extinguish until any wind-up is gone, even after the lock is disengaged. Which explains the wheel spin solution. Reversing a bit does the same thing.

    Series 2b's

Isn't that an original 1 tonne vehicle? Certainly isn't a 2b in the sense of a Forward Control...

Discreet winch mount - help before I start

It should fit if the control box is placed elsewhere - I put mine in the box behind the battery, where the jack normally lives. You won't be able to use the free spool, as the lever will be hidden - unless you do something clever to extend it up a bit. One thing I worked out with the discreet...

    dash lights on???

Or it could be the Shuttle Valve earth/connection problem. Without connecting to a diagnostic (Hawkeye or Nanocom or similar), you can't say for sure. I bought a replacement hub because "it was almost defo the hub" and it wasn't.

Excellent. Finally a decent looking competitor for that Land-Rover jobbie. ;)

    Sankey trailer question

Just cut them back and don't connect them. That's what I did with mine, anyway.

Heads up for anyone travelling to Switzerland

I was out on the motorway today, and saw several UK cars (including a few Discos). Don't forget that if you don't have DRLs you need to have your headlights on during the day, and even with DRLs you need to turn headlights on in all road tunnels A few drivers were being spoken to by local plod!

    TD5 remote locking not working

If it does work close up, then a call to OfCOM will get someone out to test for interference. Sometimes people install WiFi gear that uses a channel which isn't permitted in the UK.
